Ryzen 7000 Testing

@PoMpIs
Can you try booting macOS 12.0.0 installer?

Looks like IOPCIFamilly is too old to be downgraded...

But it is not clear to me even if the problem is because it is AMD and not having AppleVTD? or by Asus bios??

Being honest, is it possible for PCIE to work?

If now I can do installations from Ryzen itself... but does it have to be exactly that version 12.0.0??

Closest one to initial release would be best... I want to see if this problem is on day 0 release.

I don't know if it's fixable... and I think macOS Monterey's IOPCIFamilly is not compatible with ASUS' BIOS, not necessarily the BIOS being broken...

Seems like very similar issues to the MSI boards tbh. We never could really work out why there was PCI issues with Monterey onwards.

No idea...

@PoMpIs can you run this in Terminal?

sysctl -a | grep tsc

I went out for a while, and I left the Ryzen on in Ventura, when I arrived it was suspended, I clicked the mouse and it woke up great... except for that "little detail" of the PCie and the USB audio, the ryzen works fine wonder on macOS (y)

In Ventura:
Code:
bash-3.2# sysctl -a | grep tsc

kern.hv.clock.tsc_base: 316326768570

kern.hv.clock.tsc_clock_last: 7795896690645

net.pktsched.netem.heap_size: 2048

net.pktsched.netem.sched_output_ival_ms: 1

net.pktsched.verbose: 0

machdep.tsc.nanotime.tsc_base: 19080030060

machdep.tsc.nanotime.ns_base: 1671591446160

machdep.tsc.nanotime.scale: 908533176

machdep.tsc.nanotime.shift: 0

machdep.tsc.nanotime.generation: 3

machdep.tsc.frequency: 4727364290

machdep.tsc.deep_idle_rebase: 1

machdep.tsc.at_boot: 0

machdep.tsc.rebase_abs_time: 44422586670

machdep.cpu.tsc_ccc.numerator: 0

machdep.cpu.tsc_ccc.denominator: 0

Big Sur:

Code:
pompis@Pro-de-PoMpIs ~ % sysctl -a | grep tsc

kern.hv.clock.tsc_base: 274921565400

kern.hv.clock.tsc_clock_last: 0

net.pktsched.verbose: 0

machdep.cpu.tsc_ccc.denominator: 0

machdep.cpu.tsc_ccc.numerator: 0

machdep.tsc.nanotime.generation: 2

machdep.tsc.frequency: 4727349127

In monterey I can't because when I put the IOPCI of big sur it no longer starts, I would have to go

That's why I asked before, because if you have problems like the MSI in AM4, and we also add the problems of the APU-AM4 with the sound, we are very annoyed in AM5

Just received motherboard and cooler. CPU arriving in a couple of hours.

View attachment 7679

I bought this same motherboard but I intend to return it. (I haven't touched it yet... ) I'm mostly worried that there will be audio issues in macOS. never mind that I bought a 4x16 GB kit of DDR5 ram not realizing that this only has 2 RAM slots.

i'm a total noob with hackintoshing in the OC era but i'm generally very good with "computers" so I learn quick and hope to be helpful in the coming days and weeks.

I think I will go with the X670 Creator Mobo in the end.

also.. i'm going to use a Nactua NHD-15 with 2 fans to cool my 7950x.. do we think this is a bad idea? in the end I can add a 3rd fan to push-push-pull, but I suspect 2 fans will do.

Due to the temperatures you will not have problems, also if you do a small undervolt it improves a lot...

I use it on windows at 5125Mhz at 1150v and it is stable passing OCCT AVX2 small package (y) ...And it is very cool, in cinebench r23 at that frequency and voltage it does not reach 65 degrees

We have the problem with the PCIe from Big Sur... and worst of all is the audio problem that is unusable on any MacOS

Yes, it's the same thing. I think the only way to have a chance to fix it is serial port debugging... Or maybe a BIOS update from ASUS... Gigabyte for example already released 6 BIOS updates, but ASUS only one which is beta...

I wouldn't recommend AM5 hackintoshing to a new user... It's still very experimental...

@PoMpIs Did you overclock your CPU?

@ExtremeXT No overclock on MacOS... Only on windows..

but I have tried MacOS in all possible ways, and the behavior of PCIe and audio is the same....

I have reset the bios, and I have tried without changing anything in bios, with DOCP, and without DOCP in the memory... I have even physically removed one of the ram modules as @Shaneee recommended at the beginning...I even flashed the pre-beta bios, and it didn't do anything either...and there are only two bios versions for this motherboard... ... nothing makes this work..... I can't think of anything else to do 😅

Could you try replacing OpenCore.efi with the DEBUG version of it, setting Target to 67 and sending the log? You can revert back after that.

Also, attach screenshots of your BIOS, the ones you sent a while ago aren't complete, you can use IMGur. First send the BIOS settings before getting the log.

Any idea why my GB5 benchmarks and CB23 multithread benchmarks are as expected for 7950x. But single thread Cinebench 23 scores are very low only 1400 or so (2000+ on windows). It seems like the CPU boosts to 5Ghz+ all cores during multithread but on single thread it kinda wonders between 3+Ghz to 5+Ghz.

Maybe AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement needs a tuning update... What motherboard do you have by the way?
