Ryzen 7000 Testing

If it seems to work the same now without undervolt

ioreg in big sur it will take a while I did not have more space on the SSD and I have deleted the previous installation 😩

But no problem because now the Ryzen is self-sufficient to install any modern version of MacOS 😁
So audio is fully fixed by disabling NB Azalia? 😄

Since only PCIe issue is left, we should start making a guide IMO, anyone up for helping?

Attached ioreg of the perfect installation of ventura beta 10 that the 7950x just did, it took 10 minutes... looks nice
This is evolving fast. Thanks for sharing—though you should probably not share your serial numbers.

To be clear: This is with the same EFI(2) you shared earlier, without PCIe drives or devices other than the GPU, the OS drive is a SATA SSD and i225 does not work (nothing attached to it in IOReg). Correct?
It may help to bring another SATA drive (HDD if need be… and leave overnight to install) to swap between Big Sur and Monterey/Ventura.
Otherwise it should be possible to add another APFS container (or another partition) to the drive and install Big Sur on it.

Nobody sane will steal someone's serial numbers 😀

No..... it is not the same EFI, but it does have changes in the kext

then I add this EFI 👍

the serial numbers don't matter right now, it's randomly generated and it's not in my apple account...

now it is installing Big Sur, and it is an online installation I don't have the full installer on the usb and it is working perfectly... if the PCIe could be fixed for me, it would work for me at the moment... although as I say the audio is not 100% still clean, suffers some random cut.

So even the top NVME slot is not working? The one that connects directly to the Motherboard?

When you get it installed, can you test usb audio please. Audio is the biggest deal for me as I record a lot.

Not for that, it's still not worth it... it's worth it to watch a movie at home with some other cut, but for serious things I wouldn't recommend it

If you want some security to work on your hackintosh you should go to intel, also I have seen the 13900KF, and it performs better in single core and multicore in cinebench than my 7950x

I may end up going 13900kf if the hacks work well. I hope it's not a boiler though.. I'd be interested in it's performance per watt.

Less than the stock 7950x that reaches 95 degrees... if I don't undervolt it, anything I do on the ryzen reaches 85 degrees, and it doesn't go any higher because it has a custom RL...

But AMD says that it is normal that it reaches 95 degrees, so who am I to say otherwise.... 😆

** Some Updates **
  • I decided to assemble the system yesterday and started with Big Sur 11.6. No issues getting the O/S to install
    • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-core 16-thread CPU
    • Asus Crosshair X670E Gene mATX board
    • G.SKill DDR5 memory (not EXPO)
    • BeQuiet! Pure Loop 2 FX 240mm liquid AIO cooler
    • PowerColor Radeon RX 5700XT GPU
  • BIOS 0705 (latest)
  • Big Sur is installed on SATA SSD mounted to an internal SATA port; will install NVMe SSD later
  • iGPU disabled via SSDT
  • Just completed the USB port map:
    • Aura LED controller enabled (see post below for liquidctl effects)
    • Realtek ALC4080 USB audio enabled
    • Intel Bluetooth enabled
    • Intel WiFi enabled
  • Thunderbolt SSDT modified for this board, but no luck yet connecting Thunderbolt components; haven't spent much time on this yet
  • Components that work:
    • Intel i225-V Ethernet port works out of the box
    • Intel WiFi and Intel Bluetooth both work properly with OpenIntelWireless drivers
      • Not using BCM94360NG or Fenvi FV-T919 at this time
    • USB 2, USB 3 Type A, USB 3 Type C ports all working
Issues / To-Do:
  • Audio is occasionally choppy regardless of (a) Realtek 4080, (b) HDMI/DP output, (c) external USB DAC/Amp
  • Disabling NB Azalia didn't seem to help, but will try again
  • Each reboot causes a BIOS alert, requiring me to enter BIOS and Save/Exit
    • Fortunately all default BIOS parameters are compatible, but still need to figure this out
  • Will work on sleep/wake soon

Is your BIOS up to date?

Yes; will add this to my previous post.
Odd about the BIOS reset... Maybe the CMOS battery is faulty? Try re-seating it.

And can you send an IOReg dump?
