Hi Guys how are you?🙃 I have a question to ask, I wanted to buy a new pci-e card for my hackintosh that has both bluetooth and wifi, since I have airpods and magic keyboard I wanted to pair them with the hackintosh. Do you guys have any advice for me or which brand I should go for?
I had thought about getting this one on Aliexpress, but I'm not sure.
I thank everyone in advance for any help. 🙏

P.S. my configuration
CPU: Intel i5 6600K
GPU: AMD 5600XT
Motherboard: Asus Z170 pro gaming
OS. Sequoia 15.2

It will work with macOS Sequoia, with the correct kexts and application from the IntelWireless GitHub page.

Iltwm.kext for WiFi
Heliport app for WiFi, the card will be recognised as an Ethernet controller, not a WiFi device.

BlueToolFixup.kext v2.6.9
IntelBluetoothFirmware.kext v2.4.0
IntelBTPatcher.kext v2.4.0

You won't be able to use any Apple WiFi/BT services with this Intel card.
Also the Driver for this Intel WiFi card limits the upload and download speed to 650mbps & 950mbps respectively.

Link to the FAQ for Intel WiFi below.

Personally, I have reverted all my Hacks (13 x systems) away from Intel WiFi/BT cards and gone back to using Apple supported Broadcom WiFi/BT cards, as they provide a much better flow to using a Hack, to my mind.

Yes, I have to implement the OpenCore Legacy Patcher requirements to use these Broadcom WiFi/BT cards. But they just work so much better than the Intel AX200 and AX2100 cards I bought. Especially as the Intel drivers haven't been updated for Sequoia.

One thing you should be aware of is that when updating your Hack, you have to temporarily set SecureBootModel to 'Disabled' instead of 'Default', and you also have to disable the Bluetooth kexts in your config.plist, otherwise the update won't go through the validation process. Just something to keep in mind while thinking of purchasing a new WiFi/BT card.

Thank you @Edhawk for your reply, so the Broadcom would work better, but does the Wi-Fi card afterwards actually work as Wi-Fi or as Ethernet like the Intel ones? Plus would you recommend one and tell me the model? Thank you very much 🙏

Hello @Edhawk

I wanted to write to you a few days ago regarding the PCI-E network card. I wanted to let you know that I ordered a Broadcom BCM94360CS2 from AliExpress, but I received an Intel AC 1200 instead (fortunately, I have already resolved the issue with the Chinese store).

Now, I have managed to get it working. Bluetooth works with my headphones, so I can’t complain. However, I’m experiencing a few issues: Bluetooth works, but I can’t use AirDrop between my iPhone and my Hackintosh. My iPhone doesn’t detect my iMac.

To get Bluetooth working, I had to install several kexts (BlueToolFixup, IntelBluetoothFirmware, IntelBTPatcher), and I also had to add some entries in the NVRAM -> 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 section.

Under the “Add” section, I inserted:

  • bluetoothExternalDongleFailed - 00 (Data)
  • bluetoothInternalControllerInfo - 00000000 00000000 00000000 0000 (Data)
Then, under the “Delete” section, I also added:

  • bluetoothExternalDongleFailed
  • bluetoothInternalControllerInfo
For Wi-Fi, I installed the itlwm kext along with HeliPort, and it works. However, I don’t use it much because my router is on the first floor, while I’m on the second floor, which significantly reduces my connection speed. I prefer using an Ethernet cable so I can fully utilize my FTTH connection.

Anyway, I can send you some screenshots and also the AliExpress link to the Intel card I received.

Let me know what you think!

You should have bought this Fenvi T919 card.

Or this Fenvi FV-HB1200 WiFi/BT card.

Intel WiFi/BT cards don't work too well with Apple's Continuity services, or at all with Continuity or Airdrop.

You will need to install an application such as Local Send, to share files etc. between your Hack and iPhone. App needs to be installed on both devices for it to work.

Thanks @Edhawk,
The card I received is the one you see in the link above. Since they refunded me, I was thinking of maybe buying an adapter with a MacBook Bluetooth card, as you mentioned in previous messages, or should I get a Broadcom one? I need it to transfer files via AirDrop in the easiest and most convenient way possible.

Thank you and have a nice day! 😁

The two Fenvi cards I linked above, both have Broadcom WiFi/BT based on a native Apple chipset. THE T919 being the better choice.

Using a Broadcom card from an Apple system with a minimum of 3 x antenna is usually the best option., I.e. BCM943602CS or BCM94360CD on a PCIe adapter is the next best option. As it will probably cost more for the separate parts.
