Hi there,

Recently my company changed my Windows netbook for a MacBook Pro M4, the quality of the screen is incredible, and the 120Hz are very noticeable.

On my desktop Hackintosh, I've a 1080p 75Hz 27' monitor through HDMI. So I think i want to change it.

What options are compatible with Hackintoshing? I think I want a 2K 144-160hz 27' monitor. (i want the high refresh rate but not more than 200hz i think that is useless), my usage is intended mainly for software development (web) & occasional gaming (LoL, CS, some AAA game)

What do you recommend? I saw on this forum that 4K monitors probably cause problems at high refresh rates and DP/HDMI connectivity issues

Thanks

Personally I like Dell UltraSharp 27" monitors, but that is because of the colour accuracy rather than the refresh rate.

Most of the newer 27" monitors are 4K, my older Dell monitors are all 2K, which I prefer. I've not had any issues using them with DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort or HDMI connectors & cables. Also they are perfect for use with a MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt/mDP connector.

I am not sure if you would notice the difference between 2560 x 1440 at 120 Hz and 144 Hz. The biggest difference will be going from 1080P to 1440P, especially on a 27" screen as you will have so much more space compared to a 22-24" 1080P display.
