    Ryzen 7000 Testing

@ovenlite1 Apple is more than happy selling outdated products for full price (see MacPro6,1). Are there any rumours than just speculation? Last time we actually had developers of Mac rendering software leaking hints that they are testing beta drivers of Apple for Navi21.

Need help with Ryzen 7700X & Gigabyte X670E

@ManuelB Die 7900 XT/XTX werden bisher von macOS nicht unterstützt. Ob das jemals geschieht, steht noch in den Sternen... bisher gibt es keine Anhaltspunkte, dass Apple da noch etwas macht.

AMD overpromised its performance, so it is likely they didn't get the drivers right in time and may still improve performance with newer drivers soon. In some games it can match the 4090 in rasterization already.

Need help with Ryzen 7700X & Gigabyte X670E

You can...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

I'd tend to 'pipe dream'. For previous generations, there were hints like device ids in the drivers long ahead of support. Apple does only support GPUs they use/sell themselves, currently there are no hints of a W7900. Last time they had to ship new MPX modules as AMD discontinued Vega and they...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Alder Lake had the same issues, as soon as you had 2 dpc boards had issues reaching 6000 MT/s. This was to be expected on the first generation of a new standard, CPU and Board manufacturer need time to learn and optimize. Raptor Lake already showed improvements.

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

It is more complex than just pricing. Sure, mid range CPU are currently less desirable due to B650 not yet being released. But also a lot of people upgraded in the last few years since Zen 3 and Alder Lake were quite an upgrade already. That with rising inflation makes it currently a hard market...

Also on Ventura. Looks like they got cheaper too, remember the 94360NG always being around $40-$50.

the external DAC must have it's own timer to avoid the sound issues.

Nice GPU, RTX 6000? Then I can see why you went with a $1K motherboard :D But it won't be usable on macOS.

APUs always had distorted sound due to timer issues. Might also be related to the iCPU.

Gigabyte x670 a possible good choice for a hack?

@Middleman macOS works perfectly fine with PCIe gen 4. I've been running my hack with a PCIe gen 4 GPU and SSD since end of 2019 and never had any issues in that regard. Also, Apple Silicon uses PCIe to connect storage, USB etc.

@Galve2000 They also only advertise with those speeds. Thunderbolt supports 40GBit/s, but it then depends on how both ends are connected. If the either Thunderbolt controller is only connected with 10 or 20GBit/s they can't deliver the full 40GBit/s. They don't specify how the SSD is connected...

Monterey does not work on MSI X570/B550 with newer BIOS. If you have a Zen 2 CPU you can downgrade the BIOS. With Zen 3 CPU you can't run Monterey.
