Hello everyone,

I need some help with installing macOS 15.7.1 on my AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D system.
Here are my basic hardware details:
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF B850M-Plus WiFi7
  • GPU: Radeon RX 6600 XT
  • RAM: 64GB DDR5
  • NVMe SSD: Micron Cruical P510 1TB
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
  • I used the SysReport tool from OpenCore Debug version on this machine to dump the ACPI tables, including SSDT-EC, SSDT-HPET, SSDT-USBX, and SSDT-PLUG-ALT.
  • Then, I combined them with the EFI that previously worked on my Ryzen 9 9900X + ASUS B850 setup.
  • I double-checked all BIOS settings to make sure nothing was misconfigured (e.g., CSM disabled, Above 4G Decoding enabled, etc.).
However, I ended up with the following boot screen (see attached image).
At this point, I still cannot enter the macOS installer.

I’ve uploaded my config.plist for review — I’d really appreciate it if anyone could help check my config.plist, kernel patches, USBMap, and ACPI setup.
Thanks a lot for your help and guidance! 🙏

to start you left corecount of your previous CPU (12 cores i think)
9800x3d has 8!

I'm currently stuck at the macOS13 or 15 installer — the installation starts normally, but it always freezes midway through the process.

I've tried several times and it always stops at the same stage.

This is the first time I’ve encountered this issue — I’ve installed macOS many times before and never had this problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions or possible causes I should look into?

Thanks in advance for your help!

@unclesam why do you disable USB mapping?

I wanted to share a quick update.
My original plan was to make sure macOS 15 could be installed and run stably before doing the USB mapping process.
However, I ended up completing the USB mapping during a break in the installation process anyway.

After some testing, I found that the installer freeze issue was actually caused by my Micron Crucial P510 1TB NVMe SSD.
No matter which M.2 slot I used on my TUF B850M-Plus WiFi7 motherboard, the installation would always hang.
It seems that this SSD has some compatibility issues with the B850M platform.

Interestingly, when I tested the same P510 SSD on another motherboard (Intel B560M), it worked perfectly fine — no freezes or errors at all.
After switching to a different NVMe drive on the B850M board, the macOS installation went through smoothly and everything is now working great.

Thanks again for all your help and guidance!

@unclesam i asked in previous message your exact hardware because some doubts i had on usb or nvme used
my curiosity is if an installed OS in that disk works well in new B850M platform (bypassing installation steps which hangs in that chipset/motherboard)

Update:
To double-check, I reinstalled the Crucial P510 back into my TUF B850M motherboard today — and surprisingly, the macOS installation worked perfectly fine this time.
It seems that whatever issue caused the previous installation freeze has somehow been resolved, although I’m not entirely sure what changed.
Anyway, my P510 NVMe and TUF B850M are now getting along just fine. 😄

Could you post some speedtest for it?
very curious because it was very rare to have success in OSX with a gen 5 nvme :)

PCI initialisation/enumeration could be a suspect. Is the P510 used by macOS? Is it installed in the same slot as before? Are there changes in other PCIe devievices?
