Hey all,

Could someone help me out with some beginner questions here. I've installed bigsur11.4 with OC 0.6.9 using

ACPI
Kext
  • AirportItlwm.kext
  • AGPMInjector.kext
  • AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement.kext
  • AppleALC.kext
  • IntelBluetoothFirmware.kext
  • IntelBluetoothInjector.kext
  • Lilu.kext NVMeFix.kext
  • USBPort.kext
  • SMCAMDProcessor.kext
  • VirtualSMC.kext
  • WhateverGreen.kext
  • RestrictEvents.kext
Am not brave enough to use it without knowing the temps are all good and nothing gets too much voltage so I wonder if anyone could help me out with:
  1. How do I see the temp/fan of the mobo chipset? (istatmenu does not see anything)
  2. How could I see the temp/fan of the GPU (agpmode=ignore am running)? (istatmenu does not see anything)
  3. What is openCL inside Geekbench5? It's aweful low compared to the metal option performance so I assume i missed something.
  4. In hardware info the GPU rom revision is xxx-xxx-xxx? Is that a pointer to an issue? can this be fixed?
  5. Enabling/disabling WhateverGreen does not do anything noticable.
Thanks in advance

1. You might get the fan speed from the AMD Power Gadget, but there is currently no implementation to read out chipset temps
2. AFAIK there is no way to get temps from newer GPUs
3. OpenCL is a GPU compute API that has been deprecated by Apple along with OpenGL. Therefore it is no longer optimized for and it's normal that the score is lower.
4. Mine shows a proper ROM revision but I don't think that matters

Thanks a lot! I thought GPU temps can be read for all native supported GPUs, sorry for the silly question. It feels really warm so am gonna wait then until a solution pops up. Appreciate your time and answer! That ROM revision bothers me but maybe it's something that time will solve as well.

I think AMD stopped reporting the GPU temps in the driver with Navi. I think the only way to get the GPU temp might be FakeSMC with the appropriate kexts.

What you can do is test your card on Windows and see if the temps are fine. But it is a 300W card after all... ;)
If you're worried about temps you can undervolt and/or underclock it a little to, I lost about 3-4% performance for 20% less power draw.
