Hello, All! I was patting myself on the back earlier this year for getting Sequoia running on my AMD system, but it was clearly beginner's luck. Well, no such luck with Tahoe. I have a stripped-down EFI with Edhawk's Tahoe kernel patches and Kernel->Quirks->XhciPortLimit set. The installer works perfectly, rebooting cleanly several times as usual, but finally and reliably freezing up within a few seconds of the Tahoe login screen first appearing. I figured USB mapping wasn't a problem for at least getting that far (or is it?). Any tips on what to check? My almost-working EFI is attached. -- Thanks!

Are you disabling the File Vault option that appears during the installation process? If not, the system may be encrypting the drive and that might be why it freezes up.

Unlikely to be the USB configuration causing the system to freeze. An issue with the USB ports is more likely to cause a problem during the installation than at the login screen.

Thanks for the tips, Edhawk. I've enjoyed a bit of progress. I discovered that it was the AppleIGC kext causing the problem. I was using version 1.5d1, which worked perfectly on Sequoia. Installing version 1.6d1 allows Tahoe now to boot and run perfectly, EXCEPT for the ethernet. It connects sporadically at first, and then not at all. From poring over many other posts on this site, it appears I'm not alone with this problem. Meanwhile, for now, I have an old 100Mb Apple USB-A dongle that works nicely, although slowly!

Hi if I'm not mistaken your kext folder has no kext for lan.

The Realtek 5G Ethernet port on your motherboard isn’t supported in macOS.

The Intel 2.5G Ethernet port on your motherboard is supported but its usage is commonly reported as being less than favourable in recent versions of macOS. You’re using the latest kext v1.6.d, just make sure you aren’t using obsolete boot arguments, DeviceProperties or Kernel/Kext patches.

If you get fed up with the USB to Ethernet connection, you might want to look at installing a Realtek 2.5G PCIe card, which will work with Mieze’s LucyRTL8125Ethernet.kext.

I have used a number of these cards with the Realtek kext linked above.

Thanks again for your help, Edhawk! You're a true asset to this community. I will indeed pick up an RTL8125 network card. Incidentally, a new version of the AppleIGC kext (version 1.7d3) was posted overnight on GitHub, but doesn't help (for me, at least). Meanwhile, I also found a newer 1Gb USB Ethernet dongle that I forgot I had, so that helps. All good. I confess I'll miss the annual upgrade headaches starting next year!
