ASUS X670E ProArt | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Sonoma

The latest AMD Kernel patches are dated 13/06/2023, as linked below.

These work for Sonoma, as the patches have been updated to work with MaxKernel 23.99.99.

Screenshot 2023-10-23 at 21.53.53.png First 4 x kernel patches, 4th patch has MaxKernel = 23.99.99 to work with/for Sonoma.

Just to confirm that the Fenvi Broadcom WiFi won't work in Sonoma, without the OpenCore Legacy Patcher Broadcom Root Patches being applied.

See the Hackintosh Notes section in this page for details on what is required to get Broadcom WiFi working in Sonoma.

I haven't heard of any Ethernet issues with Sonoma. However, as you are coming from Monterey you may need to update your kexts and config.plist Quirks, for the Ethernet controllers on your motherboard to work in Sonoma.

Hi all,
I posted on the other R9 7950x/ x670e creator about this but this is because I am trying both OCEFI folders.
my set up is:
Motherboard: Asus ProArt X670E Creator Bios:1602
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro for MacOS, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB for Windows 11, WD Black SN 850X 1TB 1TB for Ubuntu Studio
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo Series (AMD Expo) 64GB 6000MT/s
Wifi/Bluetooth: Broadcom BCM94360CD 802.11ac WiFi card+Bluetooth 4.0

Starting with the EFI95 folder listed in this thread, the only setting I changed is removing the 6950XT card from the display settings.
to work on the EFI I am using OCAuxiliaryTools.
With this EFI folder I have managed to boot into the BigSur installer, (OSx11) run diskutils to reformat the samsung 990Pro, but when I try to reformat another drive, the set up freezes.
I restarted and went straight into the installer instead and the installation starts fine, but about 7mins in just like while using DiskUtilities, the computer freezes with the installer at 17min remaining.
My thought is that I have my bios misconfigured.

Would one of you who has had success with this mobo/cpu combination post a list of On/Off settings?

How I am setup based on all that I have gleaned on web:
SATA Mode AHCI
Above 4G Decoding Enabled 1
EHCI/XHCI Hand-off Enabled
SVM Enabled
CSM Disabled
Resizable BAR Support Disabled
Secure Boot Disabled
Serial Port Disabled
Thunderbolt Disabled
Onboard Audio Disabled
Onboard Wifi Disabled
Onboard Bluetooth Disabled

Any suggestions would be great.
My thought was UEFI settings but if I am looking in the wrong place please indicate.
Thank you

Resizable BAR Support Disabled should be ENABLED if Above 4G Decoding is ENABLED.
Fast Boot should be DISABLED.
On-Board Audio should be ENABLED.
On-board WiFi & BT should only be DISABLED if they are MediaTek or Realtek WIFI/BT cards.
Broadcom and Intel M.2 Cards providing WiFi/BT services can be ENABLED.

Check these AMD Bios settings, which are posted at the end of the Dortania Ryzen guide.

# AMD BIOS Settings

Thank you Edhawk.
I got it up and running, but now it just restarts after 7-10mins... I already had most of the bios settings the same as your suggestions as I did use the dortania guide as a reference...

I hope I don't have some weird hardware incompatibility... (ram or ssds) but the computer seems to run/stay on fine in bios, going to install windows to see if this is a system issue or an opencore issue/bios settings issue.

This is the Kernel Panic report I am getting at every restart if anyone has a suggestion:

This is shown above.

I would recommend you have a look at your config.plist to check the AMD CPU power management options are set correctly.

hey guys,
updates...

I am on Monterey 12.6.4 running on Opencore .96 based on drmeatballs .95 folder (have been hesitant to update to 12.7.1 but will try it shortly after a full disk image)

Got the Asus Ax3000 wifi/bluetooth as per recommendations here.
Installed CaseyJ's aquantia patch set 1, for 10G ethernet.
  • installed the 3 intel bluetooth kexts.
turned off:
  • itlwm.kext
  • AirportItlwm.kext
  • IntelMausi.kext
In Bios Made sure built in wifi and bluetooth where off
  • 2.5G ethernet is working
  • but still no 10G ethernet
  • bluetooth on Asus Ax3000 works
  • but no Wifi on the Asus Ax3000
So I still need help getting the 10G and the wifi to work...
I am probably missing something silly so i am attaching my .96 EFI folder and config.plist here.

Any help getting 10G and Wifi working would be great.
thank you so much everyone.

Regarding sleep issues, try disabling Power Nap; this has proven effective for some users, resolving the continuous waking and sleeping problem caused by a sync issue with Power Nap settings. Personally, I prefer keeping my machine awake consistently for Discord use, so I haven't delved deeply into this matter.

You need to enable AirportItlwm.kext if you want the Intel WiFi to work. Just make sure you are using the correct kext for the card and version of macOS installed, as each major version of macOS has its own kext. Some newer Intel chipsets are only supported in v2.2.0 or newer.

For sleep make sure the onboard serial port is disabled. Or turned of with pmset, check with hackintool. That fixed the instand waking for me in Ventura.
