I've no idea what's going on here?
Any X265 I try and play is playing back with the audio and video is really slow.
I have tried the latest version of VLC, I was on the version before, made no difference.
VLC was working fine on Sonoma and previous versions...
My RX 6800 is showing as metal supported and the full 16GB...
I've never had to disable hardware acceleration etc in VLC before, have tried it makes no difference in the FFMPEG section, also deleted the prefences file and started fresh, again no difference!
Sometimes disabling hardware acceleration will appear to work then you skip back and forth in a file to test it then it either straight away goes back to slowed down playback or does it after a few skips!?
I have tried changing the core count to 2, 4, 6 and the file and disk cache sizes to 200/300/1000/2000/2500 in all combinations with and without hardware acceleration on, along with having Core Animation OpenGL Layer (MacOS), and the other OpenGL option for output, and yes you can think you've solved it and it plays fine from the beginning, then you skip forward and backwards a few times and then it goes back to slowing down.
I just don't understand why it worked fine before in Sonoma with zero tweaks required?

I found an alternative app, called IINA, it's open source and very lite/nice to use, hope this helps someone. It works flawlessly, even when skipping back and forth multiple times.
