I upgraded to Sequoia without any hiccups.
I updated the AMD patch to the latest (came out a day ago) then made a backup and then pressed on UPDATE. A couple of restarts later it was working

Hardware:
MB: Asus Crosshair VIII HERO WiFi
CPU: AMD RYZEN 9 3950x
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

Here is the EFI folder (I have removed the platform info etc).
@genny audio is working but only via the monitor (VX3276-QHD) which is connected via HDMI. I can not get it to work otherwise, I have the AppleALC kext and I tried boot arguments alcid=1 (also alcid=15 and alcid=99)....no luck.

I went ahead and tried this normal update way and it worked!!! Of course did the all the backups and upgrades before hand. Actually first installed on separate hard drive to see if I could get sound and airdrop working first. Sounds works through monitor. A long time ago I could only do the update with an intel cpu.

I don't have audio, I updated with Sequoia
From what I understand, AppleALC does not work with Sequoia or has some issues.

✅ Success Report – macOS Sequoia 15.3 on Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (AMD 5700X3D + RX 6900 XT)

First of all, big thanks to slead – with his EFI as a base (plus a few updated modifications), I’ve got this build running smoothly. Most things are now working as expected! 🙌

💻 Hardware Configuration

  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII HERO (Wi-Fi) BIOS Version 5002
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • GPU: MSI AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
  • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth: Fenvi T919 (Broadcom BCM94360CD)
  • macOS Version: Sequoia 15.3

✅ What Works

  • Audio: Fully working after updating AppleALC.kext to v1.9.4
  • FaceTime: ✅ Working
  • AirDrop: ✅ Working
  • Wi-Fi & Bluetooth (Fenvi T919): Fully functional after applying the new AMFI patch for Broadcom chips under Sonoma, as detailed here.

⚠️ What Doesn’t / Issues Encountered

  • SystemProductName Change Failure
Tried switching SMBIOS from iMac19,1 to MacPro7,1, but the system failed to boot properly – reverted back to iMac19,1 for now.
  • Intel I211-AT Ethernet
While macOS detects the I211-AT interface and shows it as connected, actual network traffic breaks immediately when trying to use it. Might need further patching or driver workarounds.

📦 EFI Available

I’ve attached my current EFI folder (based on slead’s, with modifications) for anyone who might find it helpful.
✅ Sensitive values such as SystemSerialNumber, MLB, and SystemUUID have been removed – make sure to generate your own using GenSMBIOS before using it!

If anyone’s working on a similar build or got MacPro7,1 working with Ryzen 5000 series, feel free to share your tips!
