Spec as follows:
3600 NON X 6 core, MSI B450i Gaming Plus AC MITX, Gigabyte RX570 8gb, 16gb 2666mhz, 550gb WD BLUE sata - also have a 500gb pci-e 3.0 nvme that doesn't behave with Big Sur so resorted to using the sata... But can try using this again if needed? It used to just fail half way through installing Ventura for example or Big Sur, and even used as a 2nd drive when Big Sur is on sata, it just disappears mid copying files to it even if partitioned as Non APFS.

TLDR, it works perfectly with Big Sur, only BT doesn't work due to Intel no matter what kext I use - solved via an ASUS BT400 BT4.0 usb dongle so no biggie...

Problem is Sonoma will just reboot loop. Got annoyed and put Big Sur back on but will have another go tomorrow as I have the time...

Now what I want to know is, can I just paste my current working EFI folder into the usb installer's EFI partition then back into the SSD's providing it actually gets me to desktop? Or is there something sneaky I have to change in the config.plist? It's set for 6 cores but I noticed this differs depending on what version of macOS? But the Dortana guide only shows up to Ventura :( so I've no idea if anything needs changing?

In the past when I tried with Ventura it would have an issue with onboard graphics, I've since found the ignore function on my motherboard so hoping that isn't the issue this time (but as I say will take a pic/write what the error is when it happens again)

Just wondering if there's something silly my EFI needs for Sonoma that's different from what works on Big Sur? Any kexts that need changing or anything in the config.plist?

Please be gentle haha this is my first hackintosh since Leopard and then MSIwindOSX!

To update to Sonoma you'll need to update OpenCore, kexts and the kernel patches to the latest version.

So do I just run OpenCore in my existing Big Sur install, then update it to the current install's SSD then to the Sonoma install usb?

Where do I get the updated kexts and patches for Sonoma, Dortana guide doesn't provide anything for Sonoma it's useless.

so I think I've updated all the kexts, got the latest version of OCAT and it's stating the following:

NOTE: This version of ocvalidate is only compatible with OpenCore version 0.9.6!
OCS: Missing key FixupAppleEfiImages, context <Quirks>!
OCS: Failed to parse data field as value with type mdata and <EN2x//6Spdw=> contents, context <ROM>!
Serialisation returns 2 errors!
Completed validating /Volumes/EFI/EFI/OC/config.plist in 1 ms. Found 2 issues requiring attention.

Generated a new serial in OCAT, validation says everything is now fine, but on boot of the install usb I now get:

OC: Driver HfsPlus.efi at 1 cannot be found!
Halting on critical error

You're missing HfsPlus.efi from your Drivers folder then.

Please help this is killing me! I don't get why it works fine on Big Sur but wont even boot the installer on Sonoma?

Should just be a case of making sure OC, kexts and patches are upto date. You shouldn't need to change anything in the config settings wise.

They all are? Makes no sense, even OCAT says they are? Why does it work on my current Big Sur install yet won't even boot the installer on Sonoma?

Upload your EFI and I'll take a look when I can. Feel free to remove SMBios info if you want. Just remember to add it back in when booting.

Now I'm getting this:

UEFI->Output->InitialMode is illegal (Can only be Auto, Text, or Graphics)!

CheckUefi returns 1 error!

Yet I HAVE added BuiltinGraphics in propertree?

Or can I use OCAT and select UEFI and Output then TextRenderer BuiltinGraphics or SystemGraphics? Baring in mind I'm using a RX570 8GB so no onboard?
Even in OCAT when it validates it and moans about the above, I goto the UEFI and Output and it already says BuiltinGraphics?

This is so frustrating!!!

Can you not make me an EFI and upload it for a 6 core 3600NONX with a b450i motherboard with a RX580 8GB?

Am I meant to be booting off the usb then using opencore on the usb and selecting the Sonoma installer, or using the one on my existing Big Sur's SSD?
I've tried both and it now gives me this if I do it off the USB:

Hi mate, thanks for all your help, I've done it.

Was missing that stupid AppleMCEReporterDisabler I hadn't added as on Big Sur it was pre <12.X macOS so didn't realise I needed it.
Thanks for all your help! Typing this from Sonoma 14.1 now :)
