Dear Experts,
I am coming down to an used Dell laptop with these built-in wireless chips. Please help me to check whether they are compatible with the present community drivers or not:
  • Intel AX411/AX211/AX210/AX201/AX200/9560/9462/9260/8265/8260/7265/3165 Bluetooth & Wi-Fi
  • Qualcomm QCA61x4A/QCA6174A-XR/QCA9377 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
I wish to develop iPhone and iPad apps. So Bluetooth and wi-fi are must-have.
Thanks for your valuable opinions. :)

Intel WiFi

Intel AX411/AX211/AX210/AX201/AX200/9560/9462/9260/8265/8260/7265/3165 Bluetooth & Wi-Fi

The Intel cards listed above are compatible with macOS. Using either Itlwm.kext & Heliport app or Airportitlwm.kext for WiFi. See the compatibility page linked below. Note the warning at the top of the page.

Intel Bluetooth works in macOS using the following:

See this link for Bluetooth working in Monterey or newer.

Intel WiFi/BT doesn't work as well as it does with a natively supported Broadcom card. There are some limitations when it comes to Apple's Continuity functions, that is the downside when using any non-native Apple device. it isn't likely to work as well in macOS.

  • Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2x2 .11ax 160 MHz + Bluetooth 5.0 (Optional)

Hello Friend,
Is this Qualcomm QCA61x4A the same as Atheros chip?

I wouldn't purchase that Qualcomm card, even if it uses an Atheros chip. As I don't know if there is a kext/driver that will work in macOS for the card.

Stick with one of the two Intel WiFi/BT cards you listed, as both are known to work in macOS.

Screenshot 2023-10-21 at 20.27.48.png Part of the list of supported Intel WiFi/BT cards using AirportItlwm or Itlwm.kext, with the two Intel cards you listed highlighted.

Don't go looking for problems, saving a couple of £ or $ isn't worth the hassle you will face if the card doesn't work. I am sure you will find more issues than you need just working through the installation and post-installation phases with the laptop.

Yes, thanks for your opinions.
I conclude that I just need a mini or micro form factor PC + an internal Intel AC, AX or Boardcom wireless card.

I don't need to bring along my Hackintosh else where. So a laptop display can also be skipped.:coffee: :giggle:

That being the case have a look at this thread regarding an AMD Mini PC Hack.
