Hello Ryzentosher,

I'm having major trouble installing macOS Sequoia on my system. Here are my hardware specifications:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming
  • Processor: Ryzen 7 2700X
  • Graphics Card: Radeon RX 550/560 Series (4 GB, Polaris 21)
I understand that macOS Sequoia is still in beta, and I realize that certain adjustments are needed to make it run smoothly on all systems. Still, I'd really appreciate any support in getting the installation to boot successfully without getting stuck in an annoying boot loop.

Does anyone have tips or experience on how to get the system to boot stably? Unfortunately, my phone's video quality isn't great, but I hope someone might still have an idea on how to fix the issue.

Error-Loop

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for info about NVIDIA.
What model of RX550 you have cause I have one and it works perfectly, even have VDA acceleration working.
I switched to use WGE and in device properties I added no-gfx-spoof and device-id 67FF, and in boot args -radcodec and unfairgva=1.
Mine is Asus PH-RX550-4G-EVO, 4GB.
Here, I have listed the detailed hardware specifications of the graphics card. In principle, it should be a macOS-compatible card. I believe the graphics card was inserted into the first PCI slot at the time of testing.
Here is the link:

Did you try without SSDT gpu spoof, just WEG and right device property in config.plist and boot args?

@Law_ri,

thank you very much for your advice!

To be honest, I’ve tried everything possible—I’ve tested it with and without SSDT-GPU-Spoof, as well as with and without WEG. Unfortunately, the results were always the same. During boot, I consistently receive the following error message (see the attached image):

Unauthorized client “PerfPowerServices“ blocked (IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/GPP2@1,3/IOPP/PI02@0,2/IOPP/PT24@4/IOPP/display@0/AMD9500Controllertrangler)“ApplekeyStore“:12598:93: operation failed(sel:35 ret:e00002f8, -1)

These results are frustrating and discouraging. Here’s some information I’ve gathered about the errors:

1. Error: “Unauthorized client ‘PerfPowerServices’ blocked”
This error indicates that a service named "PerfPowerServices" is attempting to access a resource for which it does not have permission. This could point to an issue with system permissions or a misconfigured system.

2. Error Path: “IOService:/…”
The long string represents the hardware path to my AMD Radeon RX 550 graphics card. This suggests an issue with the graphics card itself or its driver, specifically the “AMD9500Controller.”

3. Error: “AppleKeyStore: operation failed”
The Apple KeyStore is responsible for securely storing key materials like certificates and passwords. This error indicates that an operation failed. The return code (ret:e00002f8) points to a general communication or permission error.

Detailed Error Codes:
"sel:35": Likely refers to a specific operation that was supposed to be executed.
"ret:e00002f8": A general macOS error code, typically indicating communication failure or hardware issues.

Conclusion:
What I cannot understand at all is why my graphics card is properly listed in the Kext driver, with the correct device and vendor IDs, which suggests compatibility, but there’s still no functioning communication.
Even moving the graphics card to another PCI slot didn’t make any difference. At this point, I’m completely at a loss and unsure how to proceed.

That is very odd. RX 550 should work.

I am considering investing in a used AMD RX 5500 XT. I have seen that these AMD RX 5500 XT GPUs with 4 GB and 8 GB VRAM are available on the second-hand market. The prices range between 100 and 150 euros.

Which version would you recommend?

The following GPUs are available:
Sapphire Pulse RX 5500 XT
ASUS ROG Strix RX 5500 XT
MSI Mech RX 5500 XT
XFX Thicc II RX 5500 XT

Alternatively, I am open to another graphics card that falls within the price range of 100 to a maximum of 150 euros but is compatible with macOS Sequoia and higher.

Thank you in advance

Sapphire Pulse would be my first choice, with the ASUS ROG STRIX the second option.

If those two aren’t available then look at the availability of RX VEGA 56. I have two of the PowerColor VEGA 56 cards and they work perfectly well in macOS.

I'm making good progress on my project. I successfully patched and installed the web drivers, which is an important step forward. The drivers are now loaded during boot and appear as loaded extension drivers, as shown in the attached image.

However, there are still a few points that need optimization. While the patch works in its basic functionality, I plan to make further adjustments and conduct additional tests to ensure everything runs smoothly and reliably.

One aspect that isn't working as intended yet is the background animation. It currently doesn't start, which might indicate an issue with the patch itself or its implementation. I'll use the upcoming tests to identify the cause and work on a solution.

Once the animation is working, I’ll be one big step closer to achieving my goal. There’s still some work ahead, but I’m confident the remaining issues can be resolved.
It looks great, my hardware configuration is i7-7700hq+gtx 1060(6G), on sequoia 15.2, the kernel can work properly, but the gtx 1060 has been unable to drive successfully.
Could you share your EFI?
Or do a detailed tutorial, I look for the whole network of relevant tutorials, but has not been successful, very hope to get your help. thank you very much.

If you really have an intel i7-7700 processor his EFI is not going to help you, completely different hardware setup. If instead you mean you have some kind of AMD processor and are trying to use your Nvidia GTX1060 card for video that's another issue. Unless you want to try your hand at OCLP which a lot of new users have problems with you will be stuck at High Sierra.

As you have an Intel laptop, you need to completely disable the Nvidia GTX 1060 and rely on the Intel IGPU (HD 630) from the CPU for graphics processing.

Unless your laptop contains a MUX Switch, i.e. Bios option to disable the IGPU and use the discrete GPU for all graphics processing. This feature is usually only present in High-End laptops.

Assuming your laptop doesn't contain a MUX Switch, you need to use the Intel IGPU for all graphics processing.

The Kaby Lake CPU/IGPU lost native support with the release of macOS Sonoma. As a minimum you need to use a Coffee Lake Framebuffer and Device ID for your IGPU to work in Sonoma or Sequoia.

Installing the latest release of OpenCore Legacy Patcher would be logical if you are running Sequoia on your laptop.
