CPU:
AMD A10-9000P (4 Cores + 6 Core 512MB Radeon R5 APU)
I got my 2017 HP-ba079dx laptop hackintosh working from an OC efi I built myself.
It boots macOS 10.15,13, and 15. (Catalina, Ventura, and Sequoia)
It has a working optical disk drive, keyboard, touchpad, ethernet, audio/mic, built-in screen, SDA card reader, and sometimes the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports work.
(I'm procrastinating on mapping them)
But the touchscreen, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and APU likely won't ever work without replacing the card.
I might be able to fix the audio, but without graphics acceleration, only Catalina runs tolerably.
My CPU is an AMD fx. (Bristol Ridge). It is one of the few AMD laptops in the largely Intel HP 15 lineup.

I'm only 14. I do weird stuff when I'm bored.
If one of the 10 other nerdy people in the world with this laptop would like the (unstable) EFI, ask below or send me a direct message to my profile.

To all those with obscure laptop models with no support like mine. 🍻

Welcome to the forum and well done for Hacking an old AMD laptop.

Regarding your AMD laptop:
  1. You are correct, you won't get full graphics acceleration as NootedRed.kext doesn't support the APU in your system.
  2. AppleALC.kext v1.9.2 or newer with a suitable layout-id might get your audio working.
  3. Alternative is to use VoodooHDA.kext, which I always found to be less stable, but can help in cases like yours where AppleALC doesn't work.
  4. Would need more information regarding your WiFi/BT card before commenting, i.e make and model. This at least can be replaced for a compatible Broadcom or Intel Wifi/BT card.
  5. Touchscreen is a no go, as there are no drivers for this in macOS.

Touch screen on the laptop in my signature works on macOS. It was a pain to get working but works fine :)

Ok, but that’s a Comet Lake Intel laptop, slightly different from the OP’s old AMD system.

Thank you!

I'll try to get the bluetooth/wifi specs this afternoon.
I've already taken my laptop apart thrice to replace the ram (6GB>16GB), the hdd with an ssd, and replace the CR2032 CMOS battery once it died.
I've also started cycling through my layout-ids, but the model # for my audio is a spoof... so it might be either a 282 or 233.....
(I'm trying the layouts 4 both with alcid=x in the boo-args)
I'm still amazed my disk drive works off the bat.

I do have a weird issue. Whenever I boot any of my macOS versions (other than 15) it hangs until I swap my OC USB from a 3.0 to a 2.0 port even though the root device is on the hard disk.... It's like I'm giving the computer a kick or something to get it started. (May just be a USB issue....)

This Voodoo input driver added AMD support (https://github.com/VoodooI2C/VoodooI2C/commit/f9f703b760711e25bd094058ecb6f19dea52dc5f) and might work with my touchscreen, as it's an internal USB connection. I'll try it and let you know how it goes

Is this enough .INFormation on the wifi device or do you want a screenshot of it in devmgmt? RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g on PCI Bus
(I've previously been using my pi4 to give inet to the laptop via ethernet)
https://support.hp.com/ie-en/drivers/hp-15-ba000-notebook-pc-series-touch/model/11528132

Unfortunately, the bluetooth card (or whatever it is...) has been completely missing for like six months. The driver sucessfully "installed for 0 devices". And yes, I tried all versions of the driver. It does appear that it was a RTL8-something. Thankfully I never use it!

It's like it fell off the motherboard or something....... So it's for the best I'm replacing it.
Do you want me to open up the laptop to see what I can find regarding the wifi/bluetooth chip(s)?
My usb ports also goof up in windows every reboot..... the EHCI controller keeps getting removed from devmgmt until i "Scan for hardware changes" unless something is plugged into them on boot.

EDIT:
I sucessfully fixed the audio with VoodooHDA. Built-in speaker + headphone, HDMI, and the Headphone jack speaker + headphone are all working.
The USB 2.0 Ports are working again.
Touchscreen does seem to be a no-go.

Also, is there a graphics solution 4 me other than buying an eGPU? I'm not sure I want to invest in a new Wifi card unless I can get graphics acceleration working.

Thanks!
