Is my desktop compatible? AMD cpu + AMD gpu

Hello!

Here is my build:

CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x
GPU: AMD 5700xt
MOBO: Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master V1.0
RAM: 64gb DDR4 @ 3600mhz

Ideally looking to run High Sierra or above. Ideally around here for compatibility reasons, as I am trying to get data off some old Mac drives from 10.8 days of Mountain Lion. I have a half-baked Hackintosh from back when Clover was the way to go, but I think I would rather start over from scratch with the new methods so I can know it is good to go.

Have a look through the Success Stories forum, there may be a thread with steps to take that is very close, if not an exact match to your Gigabyte X570 build.

If you've got your system running near to perfect then you can share your success story here.

You can run macOS Catalina with your build, the RX 5700 XT wasn't supported by macOS until Catalina. So that is the OS limit for your system with macOS.

Saying that you should be able to attach a HFS+ formatted drive to any version of macOS and be able to read the data, assuming the drive isn't locked with File Vault.

I also wanted to ask, as a bit of an oddball. I have my old Mac towers from ~2007/2008, and I wanted to try to get the data off it. It is the boot drive, so in theory I could attempt to boot of it, yeah? I would try to get the data first, then try to boot, in case something goes wrong though lol
