You don't need to open the 'Opencore.efi' file.

You need to add the CPU Kernel Patches to the config.plist, using a Plist Editor such as Corpnewt's ProperTree.

these acpi patches was created from CorpNewt (aka corpghost) on AMD OSX Discord
you have to add in your config.plist in ACPI /Patch section and try again
Hi @fabionsun,

I am reaching out for your expert advice regarding a boot failure following a BIOS update on my AMD Zen 5 system.

Hardware Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X (Zen 5)
  • Motherboard: ASUS B850 PLUS WIFI
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 570
  • OS: macOS 15 Sequoia
  • Bootloader: OpenCore (Latest)
The Issue: The system worked perfectly on BIOS version 1087 (2025/09/19). However, after updating to version 1402 (2025/11/12), the boot process hangs in verbose mode. I have successfully downgraded back to 1087, where the system remains fully stable.

Troubleshooting Performed:

  1. Verified BIOS settings: Above 4G Decoding (Enabled), CSM (Disabled), Secure Boot (Disabled).
  2. Confirmed the EFI is fully functional on the previous BIOS version.
Questions:

  • Given this is the Zen 5 platform, could the AGESA update in v1402 be breaking the current AMD Kernel Patches?
  • Is it more likely due to ACPI/DSDT structure changes in the new BIOS?
  • What is the best approach to debug this hang when no clear log is generated? Should I focus on updating specific Zen 5 patches or re-dumping SSDTs?
Any insights or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

@unclesam your previous bios needed of ACPI patches? if so probably they are changed with you bios

You should use a debug version of your bootloader enabling SysReport
Then post DSDT.aml to CorpGhost (aka CorpNewt) on AMD OSX Discord Server
