Hello,

I have installed Sequoia on my HP ProBook 435 G8 (R7 PRO 5850U), and when I go to enable NRed, I get a black screen. I have attached my config.plist

I have tried the workaround on Github (https://github.com/ChefKissInc/NootedRed/issues/235#issuecomment-4567109847) and still nothing. I have tried MacBookPro16,3 (and 16,2) and nothing. My VRAM size is 512mb and I tried increasing it by using smokelessUMAF but it is locked down. Also without NRed enabled, it boots into MacOS but with a white BG.

Yes, the VRAM being limited to 512mb could be the reason NootedRed.kext doesn't work.

The Brightness keys not working is a little confusing, do you mean the screen brightness level function keys (F5 & F6)?

Fan running at full blast could be caused by a number of devices, and its not clear from the logs or the information you have posted about this issue as to which it could be.

Battery fixes are usually done by having ECEnabler.kext and SMCBatteryManager.kext in the OC setup. You will need to investigate and see if one or more of these kexts are not loading or being injected. A copy of IORegistryExplorer from your laptop would help with this investigation.

Download and run the app from this link, then post a copy of the saved IOReg (save as....). Just make sure you leave the name as set by the app, don't append any file endings, as that will simply corrupt the IOReg.

setting the CPU name in macOS is purely cosmetic and easy to do. You need to use some RestrictEvent based NVRAM add and delete entries in your OpenCore Config.plist. Which again appear to be correct in your config.plist.

Assuming RestrictEvents.kext is being injected, which your config.plist is set to do, then the CPU name should be as set in the screenshot above. It should appear in About This Mac and System Settings > About as 'AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U'.

If you set your keyboard under System Settings > Keyboard to the correct language layout, then you shouldn't need to map the CMD & Option or CNTRL keys. The Windows key is normally set as the CMD key and the left 'ALT' key as the Options key on a British or British PC keyboard. Which language keyboard do you use?

Okay I fixed the keyboard, I cant increase the VRAM, it is fully locked down even with smokelessUMAF. My brightness is fully locked down like I cannot change it even in settings. Here is the IOREG: https://we.tl/t-HmMz23Jg19JZpKrW Sorry for using WeTL, this forum doesn't allow me to upload that file. And I have the two battrery kexts and the RestrictEvent but for some reason it isn't loading?

When attaching a file or folder to this or most other Hackintosh forums it is necessary to zip the file or folder that you want to post. PDF's and PNG/JPEG image files are the exception to this rule, they can usually be attached as they come.

There 3 x kexts appear to be loaded/injected in your IOReg, they can be found near the bottom of the file under the 'Resources' branch.
