Hi everyone,

I've been trying to get macOS Sequoia running on my ASUS VivoBook TM420IA and I've reached a point where I'm completely stuck.

Laptop specs:

  • ASUS VivoBook TM420IA
  • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U (Renoir)
  • Vega iGPU
  • OpenCore 1.0.x
  • NootedRed
  • macOS Sequoia Recovery (downloaded with macrecovery)
I generated my own EFI and spent many hours fixing issues. Initially OpenCore complained about missing kext plist files, but those problems are now resolved.

Current situation:

  • OpenCore boots correctly.
  • Recovery is detected.
  • I only see the recovery entry and Reset NVRAM in the picker.
  • After selecting the installer, boot stops around:*EB.LD.LKC|R.1] <"System\Library\KernelCollections\BootKernelExtensions.kc">
Sometimes I get a prohibited sign (🚫), other times it just hangs there.

Things already checked:

  • SecureBootModel = Disabled
  • DmgLoading = Any
  • AMD kernel patches present
  • NootedRed, Lilu, VirtualSMC loaded
  • Recovery redownloaded multiple times
  • ACPI includes SSDT-EC, SSDT-PLUG-ALT, SSDT-PNLF and SSDT-USBX
  • AMDRyzenCPUPowerManagement loads correctly
At this point I'm wondering if my EFI is the problem. Would anyone with experience on Renoir laptops (especially TM420IA / M413IA / Ryzen 4500U) be willing to look at my EFI or help build a working one?

I can upload any logs/screenshots needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Need help with EFI for ASUS VivoBook TM420IA (Ryzen 5 4500U, Sequoia)Hi everyone,I've been trying to get macOS Sequoia running on my ASUS VivoBook TM420IA and I've reached a point where I'm completely stuck.Laptop specs:ASUS VivoBook TM420IA

Due to your laptop not having an ethernet port, and using an Intel WiFi card that isn't natively supported by macOS. You may need to invest in a USB to Ethernet adapter and suitable length ethernet cable to connect your laptop to your router/wired access point. Otherwise when you reach the macOS Recovery wizard you won't be able to download the macOS installation files.

The Intel WiFi kext won't work until you are on the macOS desktop, same goes for the Bluetooth module, plus the Bluetooth module requires an active and working USB connection, which your setup lacks.

Using UTBDummy.kext is a non-starter, as it lacks any USB port details. The one you were using looked to be from an Intel setup, as it only contained the header for XHCI controller. Your laptop probably has at least 2 x USB controllers (normal state of affairs).

Try this revised EFI. See if it gets you any further.

I do have an ethernet adapter so that isn't really a problem. Something is still wrong with efi, and i get this screen. If it is a problem with an ssd i have a spare samsung 970 pro, and in this laptop it is some cheap kingston.
