Dear all,
My EFI works perfectly with macOS versions 13 through 15. However, when I try to boot macOS 26 Tahoe beta 3 to 5, it gets stuck on this screen and enters a reboot loop.
Below are my hardware specifications and config.

cpu: amd 9900x
mb: asus tuf-b850 plus wifi
gpu: rx570
m2 nvme 1tb
opencore 1.0.5 and kexts updated to lastest

Have you updated your USB kext to work with Tahoe?

You need to use Corpnewt’s USBMap script, as Apple have changed the requirements for USB ports to work in Tahoe.

I had to disable whatevergreen to fix the boot loop.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to install macOS 26.0.1 (Tahoe), but I can’t get the system to boot into the installer.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Re-mapped USB ports using CorpNewt’s USBMap script
  • Disabled WhateverGreen.kext
  • Tried almost every fix I know of

Despite all this, it still fails to reach the macOS installation screen.
I suspect the issue might be related to drivers or ACPI configuration.

I’ve attached my config.plist
Please kindly take a look and let me know what could be wrong. 🙏

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, here’s what I’ve already done:
  1. Set MaxKernel = 24.99.99 for the following kexts:
      - IOSkywalkFamily.kext
      - AMFIPass.kext
      - IO80211FamilyLegacy.kext
      - AirPortBrcmNIC.kext
      - and also part of the entries under Kernel → Block
  2. Completely removed all of the above kexts from both /EFI/OC/Kexts and the config.plist.
  3. Physically removed the PCIe cards/BCM94360CDP from the system.

Despite all of this, it still refuses to boot into the macOS 26 installer.
At this point, I’m suspecting a deeper driver or kernel compatibility issue related to Tahoe’s new architecture.
Any suggestions or hints on what else I could try would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Where is the kernel panic occurring?
Do you have verbose mode enabled in your config.plist?
Add these boot arguments to your config -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100

If you have an Nvidia RTX 5090 connected to your system, disconnect it and remove the DeviceProperties entry for the dGPU from the config.plist.

You need to create a custom SSDT to disable the RTX 5090 in macOS.

Hi, @Edhawk

The issue remains the same — boot freezes and reboots before the installer screen appears.

Also, I’d like to clarify something:
Earlier, my GPU was listed as a “5090” — but that was only a spoofed name.
In reality, my GPU is Radeon RX 6600 XT, and I’ve already removed the spoof entry from my configuration.
Apologies for the confusion 🙏

are you doing a clean install in another disk or are you updating your previous OSX installed?

then, official whatervergreen kext must be disabled in first installation steps
i think also your 6600 doesnt need of it (not sure of this)

Hi,
When I boot using OpenCore and choose the “Install macOS Tahoe” option,

it does not reach the installer screen. It stays in verbose text mode for a while, then automatically reboots or come with memory panic

Have you updated you USB Kext to Corpnewt’s USBMap.kext, so it contains the USB entries required for Tahoe?

Have you Disabled the Thunderbolt device in the Bios?

Yes, I've practiced using CorpNewt’s USBMap on several different Hackintosh setups, so I believe my current USBMap should be compatible with macOS Tahoe.

Yes, I have checked that Thunderbolt is Disabled.

Since I previously overlooked the need to update the kernel patches, I’ve updated them today.

However, even after the update, I still can’t boot into the macOS 26 installer.
Attached below is my latest EFI.

As you have all the ports set with connector type USB 3, then I doubt the USBMap.kext is correct.

How is your Bluetooth device connected to the motherboard, internal header, M.2 or external USB port?

@Edhawk Thank you for the reminder — I wouldn’t have noticed this issue (USB3 type) otherwise. I’ll make some adjustments and test it again.

I think this should work now. Thank you all for your patience and help!
And thanks to this forum, I’ve learned so much more!
