Hi,

I would like to run Ventura on the following Hardware:

  • Asrock X470 Taichi Ultimate
  • AMD Ryzen 3700x
  • 32 GB RAM DDR4
  • Radeon 6600 XT

Would it maybe better to install macOS 12? IIRC 12 only supports the 6600 XT since version 12.6 or something. Do I have to consider this when I try to install with online installer?

thx

Monterey will run on your system. Just follow the Dortania Ryzen guide using the latest release of OpenCore 0.8.8.

The RX 6600 XT is natively supported since Monterey 12.1, not 12.6. So you shouldn't have any problems with the GPU during installation of Monterey or Ventura, as long as you add the agdpmod=pikera boot argument to your config.plist.

Using the offline installation process might be better, assuming you can create a full installer.

Thank you very much.
I'm creating an online installer, since I don't have macOS anywhere.
I also don't have Windows, so I don't know how to remap USB. I only run Linux. Are there any options?
The guide says I should remap USB before I install.

Well one bummer along the road.
The board has two Ethernet cards:
Aquantia AQ-107 and
Intel I211
The 211 does not work with Monterey and newer according to Dortania.
The Aquantia doesn't seem to be working.

The guide says I should enable vt-d but there is no such thing in my bios. There is IOMMU and SVM but as soon as I enable IOMMU the USB flash drive won't boot any more.
Disablemapper is set to false and ForceAquantiaEthernet is set to true.

Any workarounds known?
Apart from that I would be ready to install...

Intel I211-AT works on AMD motherboards with AppleIGB (linked version is actually IntelMausi with E1000 support, but the name was kept, probably for consitency with the old AppleIGB kext that was unstable on many motherboards.) Aquantia AQ-107 needs some kernel patches. Where do you see VT-d? That's not in the AMD guide.

Well this is really sad.
Those are my options:
- Onboard Aquantia A107 - Not working
Guides say I should set the Force Option and disable Mapper in plist, but then it asks to enable vt-d while there is no such thing in the BIOS, as this is AMD
- Onboard Intel I211
Found reports of people with similar problems. None of the approaches worked for me
- PCIe Intel 82574L
Also seems to be a NoNo
- Intel Onboard Wifi
There seems to be a solution to make this work but only post Install.

Sad, but I think for now I will give up my efforts. Invested like 5 hours searching, reading, trial and error.
Only for Monterey I got the 82574L to work by using ethtool and setting some magic numbers but it doesn't work in Ventura any more. Sad.
Thank you though for your answers.

Here it says 211 won't work on Monterey or above:

I will try to get Aquantia working, so far no luck.
I don't think that documentation is up to date, if you use the linked kext (click on "ApplelGB" in ExtremeXT's post) it will download. Add it to you Kext files and call for it in your config.plist.
EDIT: I used it successfully until I updated my setup, before I got that kext working I had to resort to a USB Ethernet dongle which also works fine.

Thanks, the I211 now worked and I'm happily writing from my installed hackintosh.
Unfortunately the Aquantia still doesn't work.
It shows up in the hardware details, but is not available for configuration.
