So you're enrolled in the beta program for Monterey? And 0.7.8 is some nightly/prerelease? (Just curious, those could be factors in unexpected behaviour)

Use RestrictEvents

MSI boards are notoriously incompatible with Monterey. There are number of threads on it. Sometimes regressing the BIOS will find one that works but that's trial and error. Afraid you need to stick with Big Sur.

Ha! No, there's sadly something with MSI motherboards that prevents them from upgrading. Your GPU is okay!

As I understand from other posts about Monterey and MSI boards, this will probably never work - or perhaps only by regressing the BIOS to one that does work... so trial and error. There is something specific to MSI boards that prevents them from advancing to Monterey apparently.

Huh? edit What I meant by that is that setting your SMBIOS to Mac Pro does not magically give it a T2 chip.

Made a full disk backup just in case, then hit the button. After a few reboots with zero hiccups 12.1 is here. 🥳 Took about 20-25 minutes I think.

From Here "System Preferences includes Erase All Content and Settings only when using macOS Monterey on a Mac with Apple silicon or a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip." I'm not seeing it on 12.0.1 either.
