    Upgrade path to success

Ok thanks for that, I think I’ll switch to MacPro7,1 but in the mean time is there a guide for patching? And with MacPro7,1 I won’t need whatevergreen or any boot args? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Fix CPU Name with RestrictEvents

I just got a new CPU and GPU and now my CPU name will not show up. I have a R9 5900X. I have CPU type set to 0. With the previous CPU setting the same value to 1537 worked before. Besides 0 what other value is used for 12 cores? EDIT: I updated my kexts and changed CPU Type and its working now.

I’ve tried gen 3 and 4 with and without weg with and without adgpmod=disable & pikera. Could it be a ssdt? SSDT-SBRG in particular? Card device id is 73bf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Upgrade path to success

Ok so disabling weg brings me to a black screen after entering my password and so does adding the boot arg adgpmod=ignore. I ended up getting a RX6800XT. Core count patch is fine just no display. I’m using DisplayPort but can change to hdmi if it’s better. Do I need to set bios to gen 3 or gen...

Yeah I didn’t. I went with a R9 5900X, Powercolor RX6800XT Red Devil OC (sale ends in less than 2 hours) and the Phanteks Revolt Pro PSU as well as the lian li GPU anti sag bracket. Hopefully I did well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok I think I’ve decided on the below. Is powercolor a good brand? 850w should be fine yeah? I currently have an 850w but it’s getting a bit long in the tooth Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Upgrade path to success

Thanks for that. So at 1440p it shouldn’t be too bad and still a definite upgrade from a RX580 8G. I’ll see how the budget holds up. GPU prices are crazy high here in Aus. 2k minimum for a good card. Although I just found this for $1699 PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devil OC 16GB RDNA 2...

    Upgrade path to success

Oh damn. I had hoped with the 6600 support 6700 would be supported also. So something like this? PowerColor Radeon RX 6600 XT Red Devil OC 8GB RDNA 2 Being the bottom end of the 6000 series wouldn’t see much improvement over the rx580 would it? For gaming and general usage. Sent from my...

    Upgrade path to success

Thanks. But looks like I’ll need to pull the budget in and maybe get a 6700 xt. Still gotta be a good upgrade from the rx580? Would the same apply for the 6700 as for the 6800? I don’t know much about this brand, any good? PowerColor Radeon RX 6700 XT Red Devil OC 12GB RDNA 2 Sent from my...

    Upgrade path to success

So fingers crossed I’ll hopefully soon be getting my hands on a Ryzen 7 5800X and a Gigabyte Aorus Radeon RX 6800 XT Master 16GB GPU. Currently have a rx580 and a R5 3600. What would I need to do before powering down to replace parts to ensure successful boot? Just change the core count patch...
