As niche as this NIC currently is (my motherboard being the only AM4 board with it), I hope this chip gets more attention from the current X299 users and more mainstream users as some Z490 models such as the MAXIMUS XII Hero sport this chip too. So there is hope that more users address this and...
Could we just spoof the ID if the NIC like with GPUs? That would make more sense or not? Have the AQC111C show up as an AQC107 or so and just use half the bandwidth.
Excuse me guys is this now kinda the new go-to thread for Thunderbolt compatibility? Could someone maybe post an update in the Snazzy Labs thread with new info? Is this topic dead except for the few ASRock X570 ITX owners here? I remember @iGPU stating that hot-plug on the Rev. 1.1 Gigabyte X570...
Try getting your onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to work with https://github.com/OpenIntelWireless. This project is known but still pretty elusive to the main guide.
The itlwm/itlwmx kext is for the Intel Wi-Fi to work at all (choose the first because itlwmx is for Wi-Fi 6 cards) and be recognized...
Alright so my question is if THIS community can work something out and solve this problem by grabbing the Linux driver or something engineering a macOS solution out of it.
That would be awesome!
Hey everybody,
I was wondering if someone has been able to get Apple’s Afterburner PCIe card working on their Ryzentosh and if it actually works.
I know you would only get half the bandwidth on Ryzen as you would be doing the PCIe bifurcation thing (x8/x8)
but on Ryzen Threadripper one could...
Hey everybody, I was wondering if someone was developing a kext for the 5Gbit Aquantia AQC111C LAN chip found on the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Formula and the (non-AMD) Asus Prime X299-Deluxe II.
I have the former and after some digging I only found one thread on the German Hackintosh forum about...

Yeah the feature page details the header and it is sold in retail boards s as you mention but what I also want to make people aware of is the amount of secrecy that Intel is pushing AIBs to with Thunderbolt on AMD. This is just childlike and it’s a joke that Intel is holding them by the balls...
Hey everybody,
I saw the announcement yesterday that ASUS released a new TB3 AIC which features a very familiar configuration of two mDPs and two TB3 ports, but funnily enough they don't use the normal 5-pin cable to header we usually see on ASRock, Gigabyte and MSI boards.
This thing has a...
UPDATE 3: OK, this seems pretty sad, but it seems like ALL B550 boards bar ASUS have no Thunderbolt support. Big bummer.
The header is still visible on the Gigabyte boards, but there's no mention of it whatsoever in the manuals or in the tech specs. It would be a miracle if it still shows up on...
UPDATE 2: The ASRock boards all have the Thunderbolt header removed now, it seems like they're getting a beating from Intel! 😞
What motherboards would you guys choose for Ryzentosh Thunderbolt compatibility? Is it also relatively easy on ASUS and MSI too?
Hi there,
I was just wondering if anyone has successfully tried to install OS X on a Zen+/Zen 2 laptop with a discrete Radeon GPU?
Until now there has only been the MSI Alpha model with a 3700H/4800H with the RX 5500M that seemed like the only sensible option, but now Dell is releasing the G5...
If that‘s all you‘re after then wait for the B550 reviews to be out. All of the B550 ITX boards also have front USB-C too.
Just a FYI the STRIX X570I does have two M.2 slots, the other one is on the back of the board.
Is this setup going to reliably work?
See @Shaneee's answer. That's a solid setup.
What motherboard would you recommend? (must be mini-ITX)
The best one is the ASUS ROG STRIX X570I (best VRM and feature-set), but if you're after Thunderbolt, you'll need to take the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming...
Yes thank you for you suggestion but before one goes ahead with a request saying x and y should be changed can at least a few people maybe say which RDNA models they've had and just say if it has been causing issues or not.
But I will see what I can do and will ask when I have the chance.
Hi there,
I was flying through the Hackintosh GPU buyers guide and the author explicitly mentions some AIBs to avoid such as PowerColor and XFX.
What I found confusing was that when naming the models from the respective AIB to avoid they are older Vega or Polaris versions and not Navi...
Hi everyone,
I saw the announcement of AMD's upcoming Radeon Pro VII a week back and I am really excited what that card has to offer!
This card is literally a consumer version of the Radeon Instinct MI50 just like the Radeon VII and the best bit is that is also sports the Infinity Fabric...
UPDATE:
ALL big four (that's additionally ASUS and MSI) AIBs B550 motherboards have TB3 support!
I don't know why but ASRock has left out their headers in the press release pictures of the boards, you can only see the solder points. I hope that doesn't mean that it's permanent as the picture...
