Hi everyone,

I'm seeking advice regarding a boot failure following a BIOS update on my AMD-based Hackintosh.

Hardware Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X (Zen 5)
  • Motherboard: ASUS B850 PLUS WIFI
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 570
  • OS: macOS 15 Sequoia
  • Bootloader: OpenCore (latest version)
The Issue: Everything was working perfectly on BIOS version 1087 (2025/09/19). However, after updating to version 1402 (2025/11/12), the system hangs during the verbose boot process. I have since downgraded back to 1087, and the system is back to being fully functional.

Troubleshooting performed:

  1. Verified BIOS settings after the update: Above 4G Decoding (Enabled), CSM (Disabled), Secure Boot (Disabled).
  2. Confirmed that the EFI is stable on the previous BIOS version.
The Question: Given this is a Zen 5 platform, could this be related to AGESA changes in v1402 affecting the standard AMD Kernel Patches? Or is it more likely an ACPI change (DSDT) in the new BIOS?

What would be the best way to debug this "hang" without a clear log from the new BIOS? Should I be looking at updating specific patches for Zen 5 or re-dumping SSDTs?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The verbose text above shows 2 x ACPI Method errors, for devices (G02F) and (G002). These are probably issues in the DSDT.aml of your updated Bios, which were resolved by a patched DSDT for your older working Bios.

Talk to the person who provided the previous patched DSDT and see if the are willing to provide a fix for the new Bios/DSDT.aml table.
