D-Link DWA-131 rev.B1 works on 10.8 up to 10.13.1 by installing the drivers/software from the link below.

If the speed isn't good enough on a USB 2.0 port try a USB 3.0. That did the trick for me.

i got this adapter checking this thread. used to work good on HS 10.13.1 but after upgrading to 10.13.3, it just works for the first time when you install the drivers and reboot. But on later boots it doesnt for some weird reason and shows this message (attachment) and the wifi icon keeps flickering.

Open System Preferences Network and make sure the adapter is not disabled. Also right click the menu bar icon and make sure its turned on.

Alright the adaptor was plugged in usb 3.1 port. changed it to 3.0 and it started working. thanks

AR9285 Mini PCIE is working just fine on Sierra and High Sierra, installs the driver by default.
