Hi folks,

I just wanted to check if anyone had any luck with the following. I tried the High Sierra installer but got a black screen.

AMD - Threadripper 1950X 3.4GHz 16-Core Processor
Asus - PRIME X399-A EATX TR4 Motherboard
XFX - Radeon RX 580 8GB GTS Black Video Card

Alternate question: Is there an AMD graphics card that everybody knows will work? I might be willing to buy one.

PS - My 2011 iMac is broken. I cannot afford a new Mac so here I am.

check the How to enable RadeonDeInit in viewtopic.php?t=2976

At the top it says "This guide requires to be able to boot into OSX." I have not been able to get past the EFI boot menu. After that it turns black and I get nothing.

So I guess I'm saying I don't know how to follow past that step. Or am I missing something?

What steps did you take to install?

I was able to install HS on my AMD FX system so it would be strange if you are not able to install it on that beast of a computer. You most likely did something wrong.

Make sure your flash drive is at least 8GB and that you have plugged it in a USB 3.0 port, doesn't matter if your flash drive is not 3.0 compatible (trust me, my HS install took 3 hours in a 2.0 port while it just took 15 minutes in a 3.0 one)

Make sure you boot your flash drive from UEFI, and not Legacy, because UEFI is better.

If you get any errors please let me know.
