Hi everyone,
We’re trying to install macOS Monterey on an HP Pavilion 15-cd0xx laptop with the following specs:
• CPU: AMD A9-9420 (Stoney Ridge, 2C/2T)
• GPU: Radeon R5 integrated graphics
• RAM: 32 GB DDR4
• BIOS: AMI F.30
• OpenCore version: 0.9.x
• macOS installer: Monterey full version from App Store
We’ve built a USB installer with OpenCore and applied basic AMD kernel patches. The system boots and shows the Apple logo, but no progress bar appears, and it just hangs there indefinitely.
We’re stuck at with no verbose output beyond that. No kernel panic, no reboot — just a frozen Apple logo.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone successfully booted Monterey on a Stoney Ridge AMD laptop? We know it’s not officially supported, but we’re determined to make it work.
Thanks in advance!

Post a copy of your current OpenCore EFI, so we can see what you are using to boot this laptop.

There may be some fundamental/essential elements you are missing or don't require.

Just remember to delete the Serial Number from the config.plist before posting a copy here. As that is the only

Attach a copy of the EFI. The name means nothing. Compress / Zip the EFI folder and attach it here.

Using an EFI created for an ACER laptop may not be helpful when you have a HP device. As HP devices require a couple of specific config.plist entries and the SSDT's generated for one system are unlikely to work in the other.

The one you are currently trying to use. As that is the base for fixing any issues and moving forward.
