Screen saver doesn't start

I've upgraded today from Sonoma 14.7.1 to Sequoia 15.1 - while I had to update kexts to get my Bluetooth back up, I noticed my screen saver doesn't start. At all. I can preview them, it's set to start after one minute idle but no dice.

Anyone else run into this issue? I now just turn off my monitor since it's quite bright - but I'd rather it just behave as it did under Sonoma.

Okay, I can get it to start but when I press a button it takes up to 10 seconds (including a NO SIGNAL on my monitor) before it returns to the desktop. What the hell...

Maybe it's cleanup processes under the hood, but it seems to have fixed itself. Now my Focusrite Scarlett doesn't get recognized unless I unplug/replug it. Focusrite is 'investigating' but don't seem to be in a hurry since the site still references 15.0 :cautious:

I'm replying to my own thread but it'll get a bump so whatever: but man 15.1 is buggy. It often reboots upon cold start (or rather OpenCore does) and it's a crap shoot if usb devices will get detected. Not just my Focusrite but also external drives, mouse, keyboard. I made full backup of 14.7.1 so I am this close to reverting. So not worth it.

It sounds more like you have USB Mapping issues....15 and 15.1 on four different systems I use, 2 real Mac, are fine

Focusrite acknowledges the issue I'm having on their site:

On macOS Sequoia we have been made aware of an issue where some interfaces will not appear as an audio device and will not connect to Focusrite Control until the interface is either turned off and on again or the USB cable is reconnected to the mac once the mac has booted. Once this has been done the interface will work as expected until the mac restarts. We are investigating this problem and this article will be updated once fixed.

They removed references to 15.0 / 15.0.1 since they confirmed it's also happening on 15.1 at the moment. I'm also reading about sporadic usb issues in the MacOS subreddit. When they are detected the devices work fine. The ports have worked without issue since 2020, when I originally built my Ryzentosh.

The other odd issues you are having, beyond what Focusrite talks about, seem to merit a USB Port mapping. Updates to macOS often change how hardware is seen, something on your system is not set up correctly.

I don't have time for it before the weekend but I was planning on redoing the patches and take a fresh look at the mapping thing.
