Motherboard compatibility

I'm not sure where to put this. Since I'm interested in Catalina I put it here. Please move if this is the wrong place.
With that said, if I understand this correctly, Some boards work very well, Some are a pain, and some won't work at all.
How do I find out if my current motherboard is compatible?

Maybe write which board you're using and someone replies. Or search this (or the old) forum if someone posted a success.
