thank you so much, i made an account solely for this comment. i've been trying to make sonoma work on vmware for a goddamn week

my build is ryzen 7 3700x, rx570 4gb.
A week only?! I'd been trying on and off for two years since Ventura!

Also, doing a software update (to 14.7 in this case) causes the update to be stuck, and then the machine is unable to power off (gets stuck on a black screen). Any ideas on how to resolve this?

This is a chronic problem that still has no solution. Perhaps a fix in the Opencore settings.

I've tried unsuccessfully to solve it. If anyone succeeds, please post it here.

But it doesn't stop you from using it, just close VMWare and when you're ready to use it, open it and start the system again.

Did the install. It all worked minus a couple hiccups. At this point I'm wondering if I could increase performance on the macOS VM since it's running very slow. I've got Windows Hypervisor and memory integrity checks off, max cpu count, 12gb of ram, and VMWARE tools.

Thanks. Strange that it sometimes works, but sometimes doesn't.

Hello,

First of all thank you for the support and the tutorial but i'm facing an issue.
I am using the VMWare pro you linked and the unlocker you linked which is unlocker427 which i start "unlock.exe"
I've downloaded the 8 core vmdk and set up my VM like this :

1731324030203.png1731324040423.png1731324058885.png1731324080465.png1731324094881.png1731324049260.png
I've also done the 8 part.
I have this when i start my VM :
1731324226487.png

Btw i saw in the tutorial that in your advanced settings of Hard Disk 2 you set up "SATA 0:0 Hard Disk" which i cant do because it says "the node 0:0 is currently reserved.." idk if it's linked.

Regards

EDIT : i have a Ryzen 7 2700X

EDIT 2 : i removed both hard drive and put the vmdk on first position and now it's booting correctly. Let's wait if everyone is fine

EDIT 3 : everything worked fine

Hi,

i have noticed that macOS starts and works much faster in Vmware if you set the guest operating system to Windows 10x64! Unfortunately, the keyboard no longer works properly. It runs i think because OC-EFI pretends to have a Mac hardware environment anyway.

我测试出来他是 PS2 键盘设备,已经添加了驱动且可使用
但是,安装了VMTOOLS后,鼠标的坐标不正确了,这也是个大坑

I tested that he is a PS2 keyboard device, and added the driver and can be used.

However, after installing VMTOOLS, the mouse coordinates are wrong. This is also a big pit

Is there a way to set up drag and drop from the host system into this VM?

That is why Apple created AirDrop!

You may get around your issue by installing Local Send on both systems and using this application to send and receive files, folders etc.

I've updated Opencore to version 1.0.2 for processors with 4, 6, 8 and 16 cores.

Hi,My CPU is 9950x with 16 cores. Sorry to bother you before, I tried to use the 16-core file and set it to 32 cores. It did not take up too much cpu when running geekbench. Later, when running cinebench, it could indeed occupy all cpu cores. I tried 14.7 and 15.1 in both ubuntu and windows, and everything was normal, except that sometimes the shutdown required a forced shutdown.

Hi, I have been reviewing the OpenCore github for a few days, and although the information well documented, it can be quite extensive and overwhelming for someone new into all this.

Thanks to your guide I was able to successfully install Sequoia 15.1.1, on VMware Workstation 17.6.1 Pro. For anyone interested I used DrDonk Unlocker 4.27 to unlock VMware.

The host machine, is a Ryzen 5600X, Asus ROG Strix X570-F, 32GB Ram, Radeon RX 6700 10GB.

So far so good, the VM boots up and is working fine with just some small glitches like the white screen in wallapers (only Sonoma and Ventura are displaying properly), or some GUI windows effects (VMware Tools - Darwin has been installed successfully) but no complaints there.

My main issue is with sound. There is no audio device detected .

According to OpenCore Post Install troubleshooting I should check whether Lilu, AppleALC and the Apple Audio drivers are correctly installed:

The sound card I am using on the host computer is the integrated one on the motherboard, which is a Realtek ALC1220A .

According to AppleALC Supported Codecs 1220A is supported.

I am currently unsure about the next steps to take. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue while ensuring that the installation remains intact and is not disrupted.

Back to myself - if you go to Settings --> Privacy and Security --> Full Disk Access and enable for vmware-tools-daemon, this allows drag and drop.
First time you drag and hover over the window, the Mac menu activates. but if you take it off and then drag it again, it'll allow you to drop.

Any Apple ID/icloud services?
Sorry for the late reply, was actually working on something else.

Add this kext into the opencore EFI/OC/KEXT folder | config.plist -> Kernel -> add
then follow the opencore guide to fix iServices
for the mac address be sure to add a static mac on VMWare under Settings -> Network Adapter -> Advanced

After that its just plug n play honestly:

Quite newbie to the whole opencore kext thing - is there a guide on how to do this (or is it worthwhile for the images in the original post to be updated with this, for everyone's benefit? @tucano2000 )?
