Hi,
so I've noticed my RX 6800 always has it's fans spinning, is there anyway for zero rpm to work, just like it does in Windows?
I currently use Whatevergreen and agdpmod=pikera

Is there a safe way for zero rpm to work without the risk of overheating the GPU?

Thanks!

Have you tried the other VBios on the GPU, to see what difference it makes?

When you next boot into Windows download and run GPU-Z and check which VBios is present on your GPU.

Yeah, it's very loud in the 2nd BIOS. It's only MacOS that the fans spin when doing simple tasks.
It's not loud but it's annoying seeing as they run in zero RPM when in windows most of the time.

This will be related to how the cards bios interacts with the AMD Framebuffer applied in macOS.

You may need to add some specific NAVI II DeviceProperties to your config.plist, so the RX 6800 uses the correct Framebuffer. I will post a copy of the properties later when I am at my desk.

Alternatively some users have found disabling WhateverGreen.kext helps.

This is what the RX 6800 DeviceProperties look like when viewed in ProperTree.

The zipped plist attached below contains these same settings.

Obviously you would need to use the Device Path/Address for your RX 6800, not rely on the one shown here.

The Device Path for your GPU can be obtained from the Hackintool > PCIe tab.
