Hi all! Im a totally noob about all this, but i already spent some days learning about how it works.

I think i did all steps properly in order to make an online, legacy Big Sur USB installation (my motherboard doesnt support UEFI). I thought Big Sur was the best and newest one according to my system specs (correct me if im wrong) but i just failed at the very first step, booting the USB in order to install it...

Here are my system spec:

GPU: AMD Sapphire RX 580 (8 GB)
CPU: AMD FX-8320E
MB: ASUS m5A78L-M LX3
SSD: SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 250GB

When PC try to start from USB I just get a blinking pointer. This is the tree estructure of my usb (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/AMD/fx.html#starting-point guide followed):

I followed diskpart steps in order to make a bootable USB under non UEFI bios (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore...ide/windows-install.html#making-the-installer)

USB was tested to boot with a WinPE in the "hackintosh" PC

Help plz... im just lost at this point. Regards!

The flashing cursor means the Legacy 'boot' file you are using (alongside the OC EFI) is not pointing to the OC EFI. Did you install the correct boot file for your 64-bit system?

All /OpenCore/Utilities/LegacyBoot folders contain a Terminal script that will place the correct boot file with your EFI, all you need to do is point the script at your USB pen drive.

Screenshot 2024-09-29 at 17.03.01.png Location of the BootInstall_X64.tool, as shown for OC 1.0.2.

Also, have a look at this thread for a similar Old FX system, it may provide some help as to how the OC folder should be populated. The later EFI's were created for a system containing an RX 470/480 8GB dGPU. Only the first Big Sur EFI was created for using an Nvidia dGPU.

It will also show you how your BIOS should be set. Ignore that fact that this is a UEFI bios, use the screenshots to set your bios using the same settings. They may not all be present in your systems Bios, just make sure you change those that are present.

Hey dude, sorry for late reply but i has been trying to fix errors after errors . In fact, im right now installing a macOS Catalina, so finally i fixed the blinking cursor problem. It seems that BootICE was the issue, didnt worked fine at all, but I solved it using OpenCore/Utilities/LegacyBoot/BootInstallBase.sh from a Kali Virtual machine (as i dont have a real macintosh to run the .tool files)

Something i was unable to fix, has been being able to select some entry from the OC boot picker, as my keyboard seems completly dead. After like 60 sec, it boot the first option (wich was the needed one in order to begin the installation process) So it seems is not a problem anymore, but in case u have some tip about fixing that weird issue... please, let me know :D

A big "thank you" for helping all those hackintosh noobs like me, u are a good wolf ^^

Move keyboard to a different USB port, would be the first thing to do. As the port you are currently using for the keyboard isn’t working once the bios hands over to the bootloader. A USB3 port might work better than a USB2 port on your old motherboard.
