AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

I updated OC to 0.8.5, as well as the KExts, but my Ventura installation is stuck after the first reboot. I have to reset the PC, then boot again from my SSD drive, which reverts to the old Monterey installation. I didn’t have the time yet to investigate into this issue.

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Any Ventura public release success stories for this build, yet? Is there something specific one needs to keep in mind, or does updating OpenCore, then the system basically do the job?

AudioGod's ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Another success story here with macOS 12.4, OpenCore 0.8.0 & AppleMCEReporterDisabler.kext:

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Glad that OpenCore works! I basically took the 0.7.7 posted here, and added a couple of changes required on my machine. Regarding the USB mapping I would suggest that you do it once on your device, as the process is straightforward, and your configuration is probably slightly different.

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

The endeavour was a full success! I cloned the Samsung SSD with CCC and its legacy boot support. Then I manually copied the contents of the old EFI partition on the Samsung SSD to the EFI partition on the new Western Digital SSD. After a short boot check from an external enclosure, I swapped the...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

I just ordered a Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD which should arrive by tomorrow. I don’t know if I manage to restore from a backup until this weekend, but from all online reports so far the WD_BLACK SN850 is the best SSD you can get for the most optimal macOS compatibility.

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

I need to revise my comment, as it turned out I’m affected by slow boot issues due to owning a Samsung SSD drive. Just keep that in mind before you upgrade to Monterey. There are already several threads discussing about this issue, see for example...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

OC 0.7.7 & Monterey 12.2 work fine here! I did an upgrade from Big Sur. I just had to disable the Intel NIC, and use the Realtek one instead. However I cannot get the OpenCore GUI working again. I cross-checked every configuration setting with the guide, and everything seems to be OK. Is...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Screw it, yolo and crap: Maybe beta isn’t more unstable than release these days with macOS.😜 Everything works fine so far. I can remove my GPU disable hack (finally!), so sound will work out of the box. And then I can release the turtle and let him out into the deep ocean (no more GT 730...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Such great news! Can’t wait to test it out :) EDIT: I’ll finally be able to change my signature ;)

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

I’m back and I have great news to share. Your hint and the strange graphics errors on wakeup finally pointed me into the right direction: I simply forgot to add my SSDT to disable the Big Navi GPU. Now I can wake up that little beast again without problems. So with 0.6.8 everything is smooth...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

I’ve read their documentation on GitHub carefully, but I couldn’t find instructions there (besides the theoretical background). So I’ve started the tool, let it detect USB ports, then I selected all (shouldn’t be an issue, because the X570 Master has enough controllers to not reach the macOS...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

After using 0.6.8 for a couple of hours since yesterday, I have a little bit more info about the sleep issues. Sleep works, but wake from sleep doesn’t. It looks like the GPU wouldn’t come back, because otherwise the devices are on. Once the display came kind of half back, I’ve seen my desktop...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Yeah, now Gigabyte has to get their s*** together and finally release an update (at this point I don’t even care if it’s beta or not with them). :D I resurrected after a couple of months. Besides the sound issue that I just couldn’t get working, I also had a weird issue where the time would be...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Huh, and I thought that my X570 is OK when it was sometimes randomly cutting power to specific USB ports as this is the behavior I know from my old and trustworthy MBP. Thanks for mentioning this. I contacted AMD, maybe they’ll request additional system info. I hope they’ll fix this one as it...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

And I think we agree ;) Of course Apple wants to have everything under their control, but Apple is years away from their own high-end dGPU. That’s a valid point. But ARM was always about low-power, mobile, SoC use-cases. Now it’s entering the desktop & server market in a more serious way...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

I think the only thing really missing is either AMD or Apple porting the Radeon drivers to ARM. I don’t think Apple can do this, but they would have to adopt AMD’s drivers to Apple’s intricacies. Servers with ARM also start to get more serious for specific tasks, so there is a chance that AMD...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Then there’s really the only hope left, that Apple can’t deliver this year, and that they’ll be forced to do at least one last minor iMac Pro / Mac Pro upgrade. I only read that Apple is moving stuff around in the driver kext, and that some professional macOS software vendors had some vague...

AudioGod's Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro, Pro Wifi, Ultra & Master - Big Sur & Monterey Beta - OpenCore 0.7.4 EFI

Yes, absolutely. I’ve the feeling that this problem is a classic PEBKAC, but I really can’t find the root issue of it all ;) Thanks! These explanations greatly help me debug my machine and come forward. I didn’t even bother resetting BIOS & NVRAM, and went straight to updating the BIOS from...
