@Pulsar I just plugged in a reference 5700XT and its outputting Audio to my Samsung TV via HDMI straight away. Same thing with my 6800 and previously my 6900 XT.
Thinking back to when I used a Gigabyte X570 Pro motherboard and then a Ultra it was the same deal with a 5700 XT

If you are using the boot argument alcid=1 try changing it to alcid=7 instead, if that don’t work then stick your Efi on a usb installer and then try disabling WhateverGreen and see if it works better for you without it.
I say to put the EFI onto a USB installer just in case it boots to a black...
All is fixed now with the latest commit of OC 0.7.4 and that ridicules process is no longer needed thank god for that…lol

Your method works but is very flawed as you shouldn’t boot into MacOS with the smbios changed to 17,1. This is a very bad idea and will reek havoc with your iCloud account and put traces the 17,1 smbios into your install that you will need to clean out again after you are done or risk breaking...
That’s odd, You shouldn’t have any problems with audio via HDMI on any Navi GPUs.
You can try going into the Config.plist and under kernel->patches scroll down to the last patch in the list and enable it followed by disabling the patch directly before it. If you already have it setup that way...
Try again but this time do it like this…,
Have your standard EFI the way you have it normally on your main drive with the SecureBootModel set to default or disabled and also a copy of it on a usb installer.
Go into the EFI on your usb Installer and change the SecureBootModel to j160 then restart...
