    Ryzen 7000 Testing

So far, so good! I had one bad hiccup a little while ago that I brought up on this thread, but I'm almost positive it was caused by a bad gpu riser cable with my current case. Other than that it's been super solid and was an easy build, though that's probably thanks to all the kind folks here...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

In my latest case it was a new GaN psu from a company called HDPlex, that I think (and hope) can be attributed to being such a new product release with kinks that needed to get worked out. In the other bad experiences it was a cheaper silverstone one and some obscure brand I found on amazon, but...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Wish I had tuned in earlier! I've also encountered issues with these super small PSUs and powering on after a shut down. My most disappointing was an APU build I did for a family member using a fan-less Gallium Nitride PSU that was perfect for their simple browsing/email needs, but wouldn't turn...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Super good to hear, thanks for your input. If I can somehow stick with a small-ish case and have my single thunderbolt cable setup, I might be able to have my cake and eat it too :ROFLMAO:

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

I'm not sure! The idea was to pair the add in card with the TUF B650M board, since it's got the thunderbolt header and the EX4 specifically lists the board as being compatible. Having never used one, I'm not sure if these headers are compatible with the previous-gen controllers. For my purposes...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

What are folks' thoughts about using TB add in cards with motherboards that support them? Say, for example, the ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 with a mATX board with the appropriate internal header? I do not require hotplug. I don't know if I'm imagining things because I can't find it now, but I want to...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Very cool! Swapping out or a completely new, different machine? I'm sure we'll also see soon enough haha

Wow thank you both for the heads up on the thunderbolt support changes! Hmm I’m sure that could be problematic for some.

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Good to hear your stable experience thus far! I am completely with you on the P vs. E core situation, just my personal preference as well. Again, my issue the other day seemed to be an anomaly rather than the norm, though I do intend to further optimize performance/thermals. I know when these...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Yeah definitely possible that something is up with the EKWB 280mm AIO I'm using, especially because of the way that I had to bend some tubes to fit in the case I'm using... That was my first thought as well and perhaps no symptoms of the issue had shown up until now. Would be a shame if that's...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

For those who've made the AM5 plunge, how's stability been? Just putting out some general feelers. Yesterday, while in Ventura 13.2.1 with my ASUS x670e-i and 7950x my case and AIO fans very quickly ramped up to max speed. I only had just enough time to pull up AMD Power Gadget to see CPU temps...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

While I'm around... anyone have any good solutions for RGB control in MacOS on AM5 Ryzen 7000 based systems? Not trying to do anything fancy, just set to a single static color. In windows, I already hate basically all manufacturer's RGB control software and settled on OpenRGB opening on startup...

    ASUS ROG X670E-I | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Ventura

Took a while to catch up on some reading in the main Ryzen 7000 thread, but I've just applied the patch documented >>here<< that I'm hoping will alleviate some of the wifi troubles I was having a couple of posts up, right before the new year. Currently, ethernet, wifi, and thunderbolt (via the...

    Ryzen 7000 Testing

Has been a while since I've been around here! The beginning of the year and the start of some new work projects have kept me away, but I'm glad to see more progress. Especially happy to see the patch for internal thunderbolt and wifi- I had been having some issues with wifi but hadn't made any...

    ASUS ROG X670E-I | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Ventura

It is indeed a reference 6950xt! I am primarily interested in small(er) form factor cases, and many non-reference cards have larger heatsink and cooling solutions. Better performance but won't fit for me!

    ASUS ROG X670E-I | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Ventura

Sorry for the hiatus! The holidays and some exciting work projects have kept me busy and away from doing too much. But today with some downtime, I've updated OpenCore to the latest 0.8.9 release and have updated MacOS Ventura to 13.2.1. I'm not completely up to date on things, but I saw a...

    ASUS ROG X670E-I | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Ventura

Sorry for the late reply, but unfortunately I do not use the Adobe suite of apps! Though anecdotally, I do believe they work, but may take some extra effort to get there! Hope you were able to figure this out!

    ASUS ROG X670E-I | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Ventura

Hello, yes sure thing- however I'm currently on a vacation away from the machine. Hadn't gotten around to backing up the EFI via cloud storage! Oops! Would be happy to send it after I return home later this week.

    ASUS ROG X670E-I | Ryzen 9 7950X | Radeon RX 6950 XT | MacOS Ventura

Update: Been a bit since I had any meaningful amount of time working on this, but I have replaced my older router with a mesh network and have an additional node in the vicinity of this machine. With this, connecting the machine to the node via ethernet is now a viable option. The onboard Intel...
