I updated OC to 0.8.5, as well as the KExts, but my Ventura installation is stuck after the first reboot. I have to reset the PC, then boot again from my SSD drive, which reverts to the old Monterey installation.
I didn’t have the time yet to investigate into this issue.
Any Ventura public release success stories for this build, yet?
Is there something specific one needs to keep in mind, or does updating OpenCore, then the system basically do the job?
Glad that OpenCore works! I basically took the 0.7.7 posted here, and added a couple of changes required on my machine.
Regarding the USB mapping I would suggest that you do it once on your device, as the process is straightforward, and your configuration is probably slightly different.
The endeavour was a full success! I cloned the Samsung SSD with CCC and its legacy boot support. Then I manually copied the contents of the old EFI partition on the Samsung SSD to the EFI partition on the new Western Digital SSD. After a short boot check from an external enclosure, I swapped the...
I just ordered a Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD which should arrive by tomorrow. I don’t know if I manage to restore from a backup until this weekend, but from all online reports so far the WD_BLACK SN850 is the best SSD you can get for the most optimal macOS compatibility.
I need to revise my comment, as it turned out I’m affected by slow boot issues due to owning a Samsung SSD drive. Just keep that in mind before you upgrade to Monterey. There are already several threads discussing about this issue, see for example...
OC 0.7.7 & Monterey 12.2 work fine here!
I did an upgrade from Big Sur. I just had to disable the Intel NIC, and use the Realtek one instead.
However I cannot get the OpenCore GUI working again. I cross-checked every configuration setting with the guide, and everything seems to be OK. Is...
Screw it, yolo and crap:
Maybe beta isn’t more unstable than release these days with macOS.😜
Everything works fine so far. I can remove my GPU disable hack (finally!), so sound will work out of the box. And then I can release the turtle and let him out into the deep ocean (no more GT 730...
I’m back and I have great news to share. Your hint and the strange graphics errors on wakeup finally pointed me into the right direction: I simply forgot to add my SSDT to disable the Big Navi GPU. Now I can wake up that little beast again without problems.
So with 0.6.8 everything is smooth...
I’ve read their documentation on GitHub carefully, but I couldn’t find instructions there (besides the theoretical background). So I’ve started the tool, let it detect USB ports, then I selected all (shouldn’t be an issue, because the X570 Master has enough controllers to not reach the macOS...
After using 0.6.8 for a couple of hours since yesterday, I have a little bit more info about the sleep issues. Sleep works, but wake from sleep doesn’t. It looks like the GPU wouldn’t come back, because otherwise the devices are on. Once the display came kind of half back, I’ve seen my desktop...
Yeah, now Gigabyte has to get their s*** together and finally release an update (at this point I don’t even care if it’s beta or not with them).
:D
I resurrected after a couple of months. Besides the sound issue that I just couldn’t get working, I also had a weird issue where the time would be...
