Hi All,

I need some help to figure out why my Radeon VII is missing HEVC HW Acceleration in Catalina 10.15.4.

I know I can get it back by using Whatevergreen.kext.

So what does whatevergreen.kext actually modify to get this working ?

Reason I dont want to use whatevergreen.kext is because I get a few glitches in finder every now and again and when I disable whatevergreen the finder is glitch free.

My SMBIOS is MacPro7,1 and you can find more info on the succesfull build threade here: https://forum.amd-osx.com/index.php...rock-x570-itx-tb3-amd-radeon-vii-catalina.23/

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Try with the iMacPro1,1 SMBios assuming you don't already have working iMessage as it'll stop working when you change the SMBios info. Below is my RX 560 with the iMacPro1,1 SMBios.

Problem is I do have iMessage setup, I guess I could try on a different ssd.
I'll give it a go and report back.

Bump? Exactly the same issue: using MacPro7,1 + RadeonVII (Asrock X570 Taichi/3900X), with iMessages etc all working nicely.

You could just logout of iCloud, change SMBIOS and log back in.

If it is working with WhateverGreen you could compare the device properties with/without the kext?
