You are going to have to break the seal on your System just to attempt it. It honestly isn't worth it just for a cosmetic change.

I know. I thought about it and concluded that as well. I was hopeful that someone had taken the plunge already. :LOL:

I completely agree with this. There's a risk of data loss and when an update comes your will need to use a full installer to update.

@Jesinth Not recommended on Big Sur. If system isn't booting then install macOS Big Sur again but don't format the volume. This will keep your files in place.

I have successfully changed the CPU name in Big Sur 11.2.3
Refer to this guide to make root filesystem writable in Big Sur.
In my case, the cpu name was listed as Unknown so i need to edit UnknownCPUKind value in AppleSystemInfo.strings

After many I managed without breaking the big on 11.12 system

To make the root file system writable in Big Sur.

In my case, the CPU name was listed, Unknown, so I need to edit the UnknownCPUKindvalue in AppleSystemInfo.strings

then I'll post the tutorial
