black screen with apple logo - AMD Ryzen 5

I am trying to install catalina on VMWARE Workstation 15 on AMD Ryzen 5. I get past the first stage i.e. erasing the disk and the reinstalling the OS and it looks like its working, but the machine reboots and i get the following screen:

I am tearing my hair out. Please help.

First suggestion I would make would be to modify your OC boot so it includes "-v" and "debug=0x100" so you can see where it is failing or hanging up. Then search the guide for some tips on the fail..
