Very slow USB tethering speeds

Hi, as my WiFi card is not supported I am using my phone to connect to my WiFi via USB tethering. The problem is the max download speed I'm getting is about 6 Mbps. My current work around is to tether my phone to a spare laptop running Ubuntu and then connecting my PC to the Laptop via an ethernet cable which will let me get speed nearly at 100 Mbps. My question is why does my iPhone provide faster USB tethering to my Laptop than it does to my PC? And is there a way to get the same speed on my PC which will let me stop using the laptop? Currently running macOS 10.12.5

Download the El Capitan/Sierra USB fixes from here: http://forum.amd-osx.com/app.php/bbdown ... kexts.html

And install with kext utility.

Use a 3.0 port when you connect your phone.

@Norton287, I'll give these a try when I get home but shouldn't they already be installed if I used the Installer image v4.5?

4.5 doesn't come with these, these are the latest and final fixes.

Ok, I have the kext installed but my iPhone doesn't show up in System Report when connected via USB 3 (USB 2 still works fine). When connected to USB 2 it shows the maximum speed as 12Mb/s

Does your phone support USB 3?

It doesn't but whilst being booted into Ubuntu or Windows it works fine in a USB 3 port with high tethering speeds. It's just when I try to use it in macOS

The fix is the only solution for USB we have right now, you'll have to be satisfied with results your getting for now.
